Another piece of classic "Old" Vegas history bites the dust, and that saddens me deeply. I will miss that neon, those butts, the $1 blackjack, and more. For what? More dull convention space? Bah! #RIP

I was excited by the previous news, that the old girl would be getting a major facelift. I agree the Riv needed to change, but I’m sorry to see it totally obliterated. I’d hoped it would learn lessons (good and bad) from SLS... #HappyMedium

Las Vegas has always evolved; it has to! The history’s cool, but now we have the Neon Museum for that. I agree the Riv is long past its sell-by date and conventions make money, bring new blood to town. #ThatsLife

I’m torn: While I can see how reinventing/reinvigorating that space makes sense, I’m not at all excited that it’s going to turn into some giant "convention megalith," with all that THAT implies. Something FUN and DIFFERENT would’ve been nice! #Yawn

I’m new to Vegas and/or never hung out at the Riviera. I have no sense of attachment or any opinion. #WhoCares

It is what it is; I’m just super-excited at the chance to see a major implosion on the Strip! #BringItOn

Analysis

That was a pretty conclusive result and generated much feedback which, partly due to space considerations, and partly to pay our respects to the old dame, we will be running in the QoD spot tomorrow, so remember to tune in! In the meantime, if you don't follow already, check out the Riviera's Twitter if you're feeling nostalgic -- in the build-up to the May 4 closure, they're still celebrating the property's 60th anniversary with some awesome vintage photos, so scroll through and check them out at @RivieraLasVegas.
