Inspired by Bob Dancer's latest column (10/20/15), we get real and ask: What type of gambler are you? Pick the profile that fits you most closely.

I certainly wouldn’t call myself a pro, and I know my limitations, but I DO understand and pay attention to good info., like avoiding sucker bets and taking advantage of casino bonuses whenever I can. I may not be ahead, but I’d say on average I at least break even, taking comps into account.

I’m a purely recreational gambler and don’t pretend otherwise. I have no interest in studying games. I budget some ’fun money’ that I can afford to lose and if I get lucky, that’s great. If not, it won’t kill me.

I’m a disciplined advantage player. I study strategy and apply it, and I consistently seek out the best conditions/odds. I don’t play for fun, I play to win -- and in the long run, I do.

I like to convince myself - and others - that I’m savvy, play well, and have a big edge over the sucker keno player sitting next to me. But if I’m totally honest, I’m NOT disciplined with money or strategy and likely don’t play half as well as I think I do. Oh well, ignorance/self-delusion is bliss!

If I’m honest, I guess I’m degenerate. I play ’sucker’ games (keno/progressive slots/roulette/Caribbean stud) because I’ve seen OTHER people win BIG and figure one day I’ll ’hit the lottery’ (I play that too!) But even if I DO hit something, I usually put it all back, thinking lightning will strike twice to make up for all the times I lost. In reality, I lose a LOT more than I win.

Other (Ed: There’s an ’other’? OK, tell us your type!)

I don’t believe in ’advantage players’ and ’professional gamblers.’ It’s all just luck and that’s it. I’ve seen people hit for thousands playing penny keno/slots. Poker and blackjack players go broke just like everyone else. I have as much chance of hitting a big payday as anyone and all the ’expert’ books are just BS.
2% (31)
I don’t gamble. (Ed: Out of interest, why? It bores you? You have a moral objection? You got into trouble in the past and quit? You know it takes time/effort to have a shot at winning and there are other things you’d rather spend time on? We’re interested to know.)
