For me, the whole paid-parking issue is a deal breaker so I don’t care about The Park, or the new arena - I won’t be visiting either out of principle (nevermind the fear of even worse traffic nightmares on the Strip!) This is the final straw for me.

I’m excited to check it out! I love how the Strip is diversifying -- I mean, how many casinos can you go to? It feels like the city is growing up and a tranquil spot away from the machines will be a welcome diversion.

My jury’s out: I like the idea, but I’ve been to Vegas at all times of the year and from my experience, about 80% of the time it’s either too hot, or too cold, to linger outside, regardless of ’shade sculptures’ and misters etc. Nice idea but I’m skeptical of the practicality.

If Strip resorts ’claiming’ their sidewalks means the panhandlers get forced out, then I’m all for it. Having to run the gauntlet of Spongebobs and porn slappers has driven me from the Strip; no promises, but perhaps this will help to coax me back.

It feels ’forced’ like CityCenter felt forced. You can’t impose ’social hubs’ on people, they need to grow organically and at the end of the day, isn’t this just another commercial mall, masquerading as something else?

Analysis

Thanks for all the votes; here's some of your additional feedback:

  • "The Park sounds nice enough, but only if you are staying or visiting within walking distance already. Resort fees, Strip traffic and high prices have made me prefer Downtown and off-strip venues already, and parking fees will be the last straw."

  • "Putting together a phony attraction to sell more overpriced goods or hipster eating places doesn't do it for me. The outside area at Bally's is a complete failure; CityCenter has nothing to offer the average visitor; I'm not inclined to pay for parking; and if I want an outside area to get away from the hustle and bustle of a casino, I would rather go to the Springs Preserve. And, for a large part of the year, it's either too hot, too cold, or too windy to spend time outside anyhow!."

  • "I plan on visiting in Sept. and I will check it out then." [Ed: Probably the perfect time of year so to do!]

  • "I think it is great that Las Vegas has a new attraction to appeal to the tourists that keep Las Vegans employed, and one thing Vegas could absolutely use more of is open public space that is not casino floor space. That said, I'll be steering clear of the crowds, expensive food, and parking and CNF fees, instead opting for the inexpensive and friendly confines of my usual haunts west of I-15 and along Boulder Highway."

  • "I had to Google it. Up until today, I had never heard of it..."

  • "I don't know. I won't make a special trip to go there. If I happen to be in the area and it looks interesting, I'll check it out. Otherwise, I might walk right by it."

  • "As a 2- or 3-times-a-year visitor to Las Vegas, I always look forward to the ever-changing landscape. I will visit the new park to see what it offers and will be very happy there are no panhandlers because of the private property (I wish the casinos along the Strip could purchase the sidewalks in front of them and make them private as well) . I will only walk to the park, not drive, because I will not pay for parking."

  • " Ummmm, I can go to the park at home. I come to Vegas for some reasonable indulgences, gambling-eating-drinking and I dont care to walk around outside at a "Park" in Las Vegas. I don't foresee this endeavor lasting too long and at least it'll be cheap to tear out. Then maybe they will come up with something that relates to the arena where people can hang out and do something before going in to a concert or whatever. Thanks!!"

  • "Wish you had an 'all of the above' option. Although I am curious to see what all the hype is about, I will not pay to park to visit, nor will I if it's 105 or 30 degrees outside."

  • "I have mixed feelings. It seems like Vegas doesn't know what it wants to be. It's. Sin city then it's a family destination now it's?? Trying to appeal to everybody? Feels like it's searching for an identity. As for the parking, I almost picked that one: As a local I won't go to any casino that charges for parking. Seems like a straight-up money grab. I have no problem with building a garage just for the arena and charging to park there. But to charge me to park when I'm going to drop money on a dinner or bet a little is not sitting well with me. I'll only frequent properties that don't charge."

  • "The paid parking isn't a deal breaker, but it is close. We love the Monte Carlo and the people that work there, and the Park is right there. We are anxious to check it out, but it most likely will not be worth the fees that we pay for parking. Looks like we could be changing to the Caesars' properties."

  • "My friends and I come to Vegas to gamble and drink and eat. For us it is all about the casinos. We don't do clubs, pools or any other social scenes. In other words...not interested."

  • "It's new! We'll go look at something new! We visit Las Vegas from Indiana several times a year and like to walk around to look at whatever structure or gizmo we never saw before. And our old favorites, like the curved escalators, the mechanical horse race machine, the neon signs downtown...fancy or funky -- it's all fun to us. Sunshine, regardless of the temperature, is a treat to us. We do love the idea of no buskers -- some of the street 'entertainers' downtown creep us out."
