| I read QoD practically every day. |
|
| I like QoD just the way it is; please don’t change a thing. |
|
| I check the question and only read the answers that interest me, but I realize other people have different priorities and I’m happy there’s a mix of topics and styles. |
|
| I just wish the Archives were open to everyone. I can’t always read QoD and often I miss an answer I’m interested to read, but it’s not worth paying the cost of LVA membership for. |
|
| I start my day with my morning coffee and Qu. of the Day, and if it’s a long answer, so much the more for me to savor before I get into my day. I feel cheated when I open it up to find a single-paragraph answer! |
|
| It’s not about the device I use, I just like the short, succinct answers to specific questions; I don’t have the time/inclination to read some long bio. or history. |
|
| I like QoD but think daily is too often. Have you considered mixing it up with a different features some days, like you do with the polls? Maybe a historic photo montage? A quiz? A Vegas question or puzzle for your readers to solve? Perhaps the subject for another poll?! |
|
| I used to read QoD on my computer, but now it’s more often on my phone, so I prefer the short answers. If the answer is necessarily long but interesting, please serialize it over a few days :-) |
|
| OTHER - if there’s something specific you’d like to address or comment on that isn’t covered by any of the options above, please feel free to drop us a line -- we welcome the feedback. |
|
| I used to read Question of the Day frequently, but no longer do because... [Ed: Please email us and complete the sentence, whatever the reason(s) may be.] |
|
| The Qu. of the Day email goes to my work email and I read it there, but not at home on the weekend. |
|
| I only recently discovered your Qu. of the Day and it’s now a feature I return to regularly. Wish I’d known about it before! |
|
| I only have time to read Qu. of the Day on the weekend so the weekday answers are wasted on me. |
|
| What the hell is Question of the Day? I have no clue what you’re talking about! |

Analysis
Thanks to all the nearly 4,000 respondents to the poll. The results of this poll were mainly for our own purposes, so we appreciate all the votes and feedback, samples of which we've copied and pasted here.
"Often the question of the day is one of the highlights of the day."
"Please don't change a thing. Some questions require a long answer, and I'm happy that you're able to provide it."
"Too many times, you deviate so much from the actual question that it is very frustrating. Be a little more brief and to the point."
"I love QoD. Been reading it almost every day for all the time I have been an LVA member, maybe 8-9 years. It gives me info that I don't think I could find on my own. QoD, along with the rest of what's on LVA, gives me an insider's insight into what's going on there. When I am in LV with my friends, I impress them with my "Las Vegas knowledge." I'm sure it takes a lot of time, but it's great. Please don't change a thing!"
"I like the QOD just the way it is, except...it hasn't been clear to me how to toggle back and forth among topics once I have "signed in" as a member. When I'm away from LVA for more than a day I like to look at all the questions that were submitted and read the answers to those that interest me (which is most of them!), but it seems a chore to go from one to the other. Why must I sign in again anyway, since I assume you already know who I am and that I am a paid member? Do I use my back arrow? Sometimes "it" makes me sign in AGAIN between topics. I guess I am an idiot to have not figured this out already. But all of you who work hard to give us thorough answers (and often photos) do a wonderful job. QOD is a highlight of my day."
"I do enjoy reading the QoDs, and I checked the box that I thought perhaps a daily question is too often. It does seem to me that occasionally the questions feel contrived as if there aren't enough valid questions in the queue, so the staff makes up a question to which they can write an informative answer. I have no problem with that, but if so, why not look for a different method to share information?"
"I read the QoD daily, almost religiously. While I would like to see the archives opened, I understand the business decision to make them a paid-for option. I usually read the QoD early in the day. I follow that up by reading Today's News. Far too often there will be a news item indicating that the QoD has been updated for some reason. But by the time I see the news item, it's too late to view the QoD. So for that reason, please make at least the previous days' QoD available, and put a note on the new QoD whenever there was an update of the prior day's info. Thanks."
"There are times when I want to copy/cut and paste; a record for myself or to forward something important & interesting. It cannot be done, why not and could you change it so we could." [Editor's Note: We're not sure why you can't copy and paste; it can be done by highlighting the text, then hitting CTRL C (copy). You can paste into a Word document.]
"I wish we could read the archives. Sometimes I read an answer and would like to go back to it the next day or two."
"Question of the Day is the one email I check daily, almost without fail. I truly appreciate the thorough and entertaining answers. Over the years, I feel I have learned more useful things, and been more entertained, by the QoD than even by my subscription to LVA."
"I currently am not a member of LV Advisor, and will only rejoin during a year when I expect to visit Las Vegas again. I do so specifically for the Members Reward coupons. Unfortunately for you, there are now too many "local" options, and Las Vegas has become less competitive when the cost of air fare & accommodations are taken into consideration. In exchange for not traveling to Vegas, I can visit a local casino whenever the itch strikes, for as long as I want, and feel comfortable only a short drive from home."
"I realize it is called Question of the Day but I wish the answers would be available longer than one day. Say, one week. If you really get away from it all, maybe even in Vegas, you may miss important info. Of course, if I was going to Vegas I would have spent the money for all your discounts."
I know it takes a lot of work to have the QOD for your readers. I was glad to see it come back years ago. It may be a bit of a PITA to prepare daily, but I assure you it is appreciated. It is my daily connection to Las Vegas. Thanks to all that make it happen."
"I do read all of the QoD's because you never know when you might learn something new and useful. I just don't get to read them every day. I also read all of the Todays News, but I do skip over some things that don't necessarily apply to an out of towner, liker traffic jams at the Spaghetti Bowl."
"I read it every day and often discuss with others. I love that you have a bi-weekly poll and I hope you keep that feature permanently."
"Even though I'm a Gold Member, I do wish you opened up the archives of QoD to everyone. It's the gem of the LVA site."
Finally, here's a little hint for those non-LVA members who'd like the Archives to be open and have read down this far: "I probably shouldn't tell you this, but since I sometimes miss a good QOD, I've found a way to conjure it up, at least if it's very recent. I search the text of the question, then click on "cached." That day's page will usually turn up!"
