Poll : 07 June - 20 June 2017

Q:

This poll is a brief three-choice survey relating to our membership program. Even if you’ve never considered becoming a paid LVA member, we’re very interested in which model would be most attractive to you. Keep in mind that all three choices include the “Core Benefits” of membership, which are the Member Rewards Book of yearly coupons; Printable Member Rewards, which are coupons added throughout the year; and bonus membership into the Theater Extras free-ticket club. Please choose one option and feel free to contribute comments at the bottom of the page.

A:
1368 Total Votes
1. LVA Core Benefits PLUS monthly Las Vegas Advisor newsletter. This is the current LVA model.
63% (859)
2. LVA Core Benefits PLUS choice of gambling product(s). This model replaces the newsletter with a choice of books, software, strategy cards, etc., including all new releases.
31% (422)
3. LVA Core Benefits Only at a lower price than options 1 and 2, for those who are interested primarily in the coupons.
6% (87)

Analysis

We predicted otherwise, so the results of this poll surprised us. We're flattered; we didn't think that such a high percentage of respondents cared about the newsletter. We figured that coupons were king, but keeping the membership program the way it is received a big enough number of votes to command our attention, regardless of our intentions. We're taking it all into consideration as we plan for the future.

Thank you all very much for weighing in and commenting; both mean a lot to us.

Add a 4th one. The best option here plus little to no advertising on the site. I would pay more. I pay the 53.50 every year but since you've changed I only check out the QoD and daily news, then scram. I had a very gross advertising one day but won't go into it because it was so disgusting and would make people sick!

I have to agree with Sandra. Even when I am signed in, there are so many ads now. On my tablet, the ad on the right actually covers up part of the text on the news page.

Newsletter and no more pop up ads please
    1. (I like it as it is) The reason I subscribe (in order of preference): the QoD, the newsletters, the coupon book.
I agree with Sandra regarding the ads. I thought I had a virus on my computer when I first saw the ad at the back when I close the LVA windows because the ad was not appropriate. Maybe ads related to Las Vegas would be better (and, if possible no hidden ads at the back).
Thank you for the great work!

I thought I had picked up a virus or had malware installed on my tablet. It was LVA advertising? I'm not a prude but, this isn't the kind of advertising I would expect to see from LVA.

    Why?
Although I disliked all the bickering and insults in the previous forums the main reason I have remained a member has been for the exchange of worthwhile information in the forums. Now it is difficult to impossible to even get a response from the staff. Will I renew? So far my thoughts are why? It used to be Las Vegas Advisor with the emphasis on Advisor.

I actually hate the new format - with all the ads I can't even find what I what. So hard to navigate I don't even try very often.

    Forum and ads
I liked the Forum better the way it was and it is ridiculous to ask that the ads be removed from the site. I am sure the ads are the primary source of income for LVA. I voted for selection one I like the program just the way it is.

    Las Vegas Advisor--Where's the Advice???
I agree with Marty. You can't contact anyone to express an opinion anymore and they don't comment back when you do write. My biggest complaint is the outrageous cost of a rental car in Vegas. You used to be able to rent a vehicle at a reasonable price, but no longer. I was just quoted a price of $450.00 for a 6 day rental on an economy car!!! Why doesn't the LVA talk about how prices are going through the roof. Could they be involved in the rip off? Just wondering, since they have a link to rental cars.

    CURRENT
I like things just the way they are. I like most of all the coupon book. I pay 53.50 and consider it a bargain after the first two days. So far, I haven't seen any "objectionable" ads, but I rarely look at them.

I'm only a "free" member but may consider upgrading to a paid membership once the Raiders move to town. I'm from the bay area and have season tix and would likely extend those when they move. Since we have a timeshare in LV we'd undoubtedly visit more often for long weekends on home games and so therefore could make more use of the coupons, etc.
Thanks for all the good work!

P.S. Agree with some of the ads comments, but the worst are the pop-up survey questions unrelated to LVA content.

    change w.o. purpose
I voted for number one, however my real vote would be to put it back the way it was before these changes were made,i like so many others no longer go beyond the qod because of the difficulty in navigation and the adds.the coupons and the printed and mailed newsletter is all you have left if this is changed or priced out of the market so is the lva. rh

    Pay to remove ads
I agree with Sandra, Greg, and others here. I understand that LVA needs to pay the bills, but the ads... Could I please just pay you a low-level fee to have an ad-free or at last ad-reduced experience on the site?

I am in favor of the system already in place. I have had the newsletter mailed in the past but I usually read most things online, including the newsletter before it arrived, so I prefer that program. If there are options LVA wants to promote, they could be added as options to the existing program. I am one who is generally open to change, however, in this case don't change what is working.

I love the monthly newsletter. I always look forward to getting it and reading it every month. And I love the hardcopy format. I find that much better than reading comments online or from emails. There's something to be said about holding a newspaper or magazine in your hands. The best is reading the newsletter while on a plane flying to Las Vegas! And for the record, I have no problem finding anything on the new website, but the pop-up ads are annoying.

Totally agree with ritter on the ad content, the popups very annoying to the point of not wanting to visit the site. Not sure why I need to see that a s paying subscriber anyway.

The new site sucks! I pay for membership, login and still get bombarded with ads. The colors suck. It's not Vegas!

    Too manyads
New format flooded with too many ads. Old format better. Can't get too newsletter without seeing ads. Note to the right of this page.

I assume the newsletter is a lot of work. But it is to me a big part of the site and value. After we lost the forums it is the way to learn about Vegas. It is what makes me come back everymonth to poke around the site. Do not get me wrong the coupon book is a huge value but if you are trying to drive traffic to your site and I like the newsletter.

  • Dave Jun-08-2017

Call me cheap, but if it ain't free, it ain't for me.

    Web Site Changes
The new web site is impossible to navigate. Might as well not try to get into the website at all.

I think the old web site was much better. It is too hard to find what I am looking for.

    coupons
I liked the old newsletter,it is hard to navigate the new one and the ads r VERY irritating. Can't people leave the things the way they are? Guess I'm getting old.

    LEAVE IT ALONE
You can change some things, but leave the basic format alone. I have been a member from the beginning and I see no reason to change it. Del Miller

I am not crazy about the new LVA, but I understand that advertising pays the bills. I most miss the forums; in order of why I remain a subscriber: Love to read the Question of the day, used to read the forums, the monthly newsletter and the coupon book in the event that we visit Las Vegas. I wish that the forums were formatted the way they used to be; they were a daily read for me. Now I just read the question of the day and news of the day. I spend a fraction of the time that I used to on your site.

    Ads.
My browser(Opera) has a pop up blocker built in.
Ad Block Plus is also installed.
The right side of my screen is blank.

  • Caroline Jun-26-2017
New site okay but the ads
Since the new site launched I am averaging over 30 spam per day but I did notice that the ads seem to be running across the bottom and not the side which is an improvement. Getting rid of the spam would make it the awesome site it previously was.
