This poll was submitted by a frequent correspondent (whom we're always happy to hear from) of LVA, who writes, "Years ago, I applied to work at the Venetian. I think they had more pages on the application about appearance than experience: no visible tattoos allowed anywhere and don't even try to hide them with makeup or bandages; no piercing for men at all and women only can have one piercing per ear -- that kind of thing." She suggested conducing a survey on tattoos in the hospitality industry.
Once the province of sailors, bikers, and convicts, tattoos have moved into the mainstream, especially with Millennials who regard them as a rite of passage. But are they appropriate for service employees checking you into or cleaning your hotel room, serving you food or drink, cooking your food, or even dealing you cards or dice? Should tattoos be taboo for Las Vegas employees? All votes and comments eagerly anticipated.
