Analysis

No real need to comment on the results on this survey, which definitely speak for themselves.

Except to say that we were a little surprised that nearly twice as many people admitted to frequenting the legal brothels than search the trash for coupons. We might've expected it to be the other way around.

Also, with splurging on expensive meals placing right after gambling and gathering the second most votes, we hope most, if not all, those 320 voters are aware of our annual restaurant guide to the best restaurants in Las Vegas, Eating Las Vegas

    favorties in Vegas QOD
go to all the Savers for cheap Vegas souvenir's [Tees w logos] then admire Bellagio Fountains and wonder what Sinatra and Dean Martin would think of what happened to Vegas

    Sportsbooks
While there are Indian Casinos near our home, they do not have sports betting. As result, most of my Vegas gambling budget is spent at the Superbook @ Westgate.

    Buffets
Just eating as much as I want at a buffet, expensive or not.

  • shadow520 Jul-19-2017
    Beer
Free beer. Not a liquor drinker, although I do wish more casinos carried local and/or national craft beers.

Where else can you go with the businesses saying they really want your patronage, then slam you with fees to park.

I remember Vegas when it Was the only place to gamble legally in the US. Now gambling is no more than 45 minute drive for most people. Regarding the expensive meal category, I spent $400 for dinner for 4 at Ruth's Chris (Harrah's) and was disappointed. I remember when the buffet at the Rio was around 5-6 bucks and as good,if not better, than it currently is. I feel, unfortunately, that Vegas is on a downward slide with too many hotel rooms to fill, too many expensive dining spots, and very minimal comps for casino play. I am glad I got to experience Vegas as it was many years ago; it was Great!

    indulgences?
Bonanza Gift Store, M&M/Coca-Cola, walking from one casino to another, and crying about all the places that used to be, but are now torn down. (Stardust, Riv, etc) None of this fit any of the answers so I did not check anything in the vote.

    A lil naughty
When business brings me to Las Vegas - usually a couple/three times a year - it's kind of a thrill for me to visit one of the topless pools. I don't misbehave, and I usually go to a different hotel than the one where I'm staying, but my husband doesn't know and I'm pretty sure my friends back home and some of the other mothers at my kids' school would be scandalized. But for me, it's my "only in Vegas" extravagance.

    ignore strip
The hell with strip. I refuse to pay for parking. If they don't want my business I am happy to oblige. I like to drive to the out lying casinos such as the stations. They are friendlier and the buffets are still pretty reasonable.

Everywhere you go something is a memory!
After 26 trips, you find something new every trip. Its new restaurants, its downtown casual, its sweeping vistas driving by Lake Mead, its a different rental car, its a different hotel/casno to stay in (15 for me), its a different marquee show, and repeat places like Old Nevada, Adventuredome, the sports books, piano bars, and pools where you see new people wide eyed for their first time visit!

to gamble, but I can do that at home without the expense of airfare, parking fees, resort fees, taxes on renting a car.Vegas isn't fun anymore, the big business took the fun and the winning away. Time to get payback and not come to Vegas.

    the little things
No big indulgence, but we love people watching and where is there a better place to do that than in Vegas?? We will stand in front of Planet Hollywood and watch people THINK they are avoiding the crowd and try to walk along the road to pass PH, only to get on the handicapped ramp and walk all the way up, only to realize (once they get to the top) that they have walked further than needed. The looks on their faces is so funny! Second thing....watching the females walking by and guessing if "they" are real or silicone! Yep, little things, but can't do it anywhere else we go :)

    While in Vegas
As many noted, there is gambling closer to home and better comps as well. In Vegas, for me, it's the aspects that casinos closer to home don't have though. That's the people watching (seeing people partake in their only-in-Vegas list)and the feeling of just wandering the giant resorts (monstrosities?). There are no Bellagio fountains at home, not nearly the characters of downtown (for better or worse), and not many people being only-in-Vegas. On bad gambling days, to find alternate entertainment for free, a friend and I would go get a bunch of free drinks in us from cheap video poker and play the game who could spot a hooker first! Nothing more with them of course. So stupid and so entertaining when the gambling gods weren't in your favor that day!

    Shop till you drop
I do a lot of walking when I am in Las Vegas and I walk to all the different shopping areas just to see what is new and what have changed. Caesars Forum and Venetian are favorites. Fashion Show Mall has a variety of stores you find in at home malls. Wynn's malls are upscale and the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood have a variety of everything and I find great souvenirs there. Bally's tore down the frontage walkway and there are rows of small shops there. I also like to go in and out of all the hotels to check out their shops. Also find unexpected restaurants where I stop for a quick bite or a cup of tea or coffee and watch the people. Love when I can use coupons to get money off on the things I buy.

I get my spa treatments but not on the strip. I refuse to patronize casinos that charge me to park for the privilege of losing my money at their casino. I also stay at the outlying hotels like Green Valley or Red Rock. Their comps have gone down but not as bad as strip casinos.

No need to go to brothels with the casino's making love to you with the charging for parking.

  • Robin Heller Jul-22-2017
    Vegas only?
Wow, none of the above! I just play different games there than at home.

    MVP Military Veteran program
On page 12 of the August 2017 newsletter, you stated Ceasars Entertainment is starting MVP, Military Veterans Program which will upgrade to Pearl status. I don't think Ceasars has a Pearl status in players card but MLife (MGM etc) does have a Pearl players card which allows for free parking.
