Poll : 20 December - 02 January 2018

Q:

This came in as a Question of the Day suggestion, but it was more conducive to being a poll. Unlike the last couple surveys, you can vote for as many attractions, rides, and tours as you like. As always, let us know the reasons for your preferences. And if we didn’t list one of your favorites, we’d like to hear about that too.

Also, if you haven’t heard of some of these attractions, or have heard of them, but would like more information, these 50 (and more; we didn't list them all) are taken from the lists on this site — under See & Do on the top navigation menu.

Analysis

This poll attracted a lot of votes; thanks to everyone who participated with checkmarks and comments.

Interestingly, five out of the top six attractions, and six out of the top eight, are free. We're maybe a little surprised that the Bellagio Conservatory placed as high as it did, though we're especially gratified to see the Mob Museum, so emblematic of and unique to Las Vegas, in seventh place overall and second place among the admission-fee group (particularly because admission isn't inexpensive at $24 for adults). We also liked seeing the Clark County Museum in the top 25; here, admission is only $2, but it's a pretty good schlep to get out there, though well worth it in our opinion for the its historical exhibits.

Also of interest: All three aerial attractions -- High Roller, Stratosphere, and Eiffel Tower -- wound up grouped together.

And every one of the 50 attractions received at least two votes.

We also enjoyed the comments and received a pleasant surprise from the couple write-in votes for the Pinball Museum. There are other pinball museums around, but this is one of the largest, all the machines are playable, and it's a non-profit, so excess revenues go to charity. Other write-ins we liked were Valley of Fire, Nevada's oldest state park, Mt. Charleston, the Silverton fish tank, and Bootleg Canyon.

    Poll not working properly
It will only allow one selection instead of multiple.

    Not on the list?
One f the neatest things I ever did in Las Vegas isn't on your list. Hot air balloon ride.

    Nice try....

You didn't list the Pinball Hall of Fame which has hundreds of vintage playable machines! I would also vote for the natural wonders around the city! Also, couldn't vote for more than one attraction.

    Bellagio Fountains
     Hello,

Why aren't the Bellagio Fountains listed?

Visitors come from across the globe to see them.

And they are FREE to watch. Most everything else on the list is highly priced.

    number of choices
You can now make as many choices as you like. Someone (me) didn't push the button.

  • Deke Castleman Dec-20-2017
    And Bellagio Fountains
We added the fountains. Easy switch, as the Auto Collection at the LINQ is closing a week from Saturday.

    Attractions
Maybe I missed it, but walking/standing on the strip and people watching as you absorb the strip and it's lights.

    Bellagio fountains at risk
I recently heard, from more than one (inside) source, that the Bellagio fountains are on the endangered list, something to do with parts (and expertise) for repair and upkeep eventually becoming unavailable. I fervently hope that is not the case.

I guess the poll was fixed, as I could select multiple options.

    attraractions poll
These attractions have no appeal to me and is not why I go to LV. I have never use any of them and all are irrelevant to why I go to LV. Now the Sports book at the Orleans is an attraction I utilize.

the gun range, next to the military vehicles, believe it was called Battlestar?

    Fremont Street
I chose FSE because it has been the only attraction that my wife and I have stopped gambling long enough to see. We have been coming to Las Vegas 2 to 3 times a year for over 30 years:)

  • Linda Heffernan Dec-20-2017
    Silverton
What about the Silverton fish tank? It's not just a bunch of fish. You can watch when they feed the rays. It's pretty cool.

  • Linda Heffernan Dec-20-2017
    Valley of Fire
Only about an hour away, but worth the drive.

Looking at this list makes me feel like I haven't seen enough of Vegas, even though I've been going since I was a kid with my parents. I want to go see the Carroll Shelby Museum and I didn't even know they did Segway tours downtown.

    Things to do
We like the real zip line Flightlinez at Bootleg Canyon! Also, hiking at Mount Charleston. We still get back in time for gambling that night. What about the new bridge at Hoover Dam, Pat Tillman bridge, that you can walk over part of it and view the Hoover Dam from? Dang, I forgot to vote for Spring Preserves!

  • Jim Veith Dec-20-2017
    Mt. Charleston
You've got to include Mt Charleston, cool in summer with great hiking trails and the Bristlecone pines, plus skiing in winter, (who would think you can ski in Vegas), plus a great new visitor center.

    Re: poll
I haven't tried most of these attractions. However, I am planning an extended visit soon. The extra time will afford me the opportunity to sample many of them. In fact, I'm going to print out your list and take it with me.
PS. I agree that you should have included the Pinball Museum. It's great!

  • John Chopek Dec-21-2017
The poll isn't working at all now.
A few places I visit during every trip to Las Vegas are the Auto Collection at the Linq, Fremont Street, Red Rock Canyon, Mt Charleston, Desert National Wildlife Refuge, Valley of Fire, Lake Mead, Hoover Dam and Death Valley. I've seen the Fountains at Bellagio and the Volcano at Mirage and enjoyed them but once was enough. The general interest tour of NNSS was very interesting and I plan to go again but they are very limited with many restrictions and must be planned up to a year in advance.

    Clark County Museum
I understand people not liking rugrats in Las Vegas so that is why they should be taken to the Clark County Museum out in Henderson. Admission only $2 a person and open every day but some major holidays. A lot of early Vegas history. I have visited Vegas for decades and did not know about this gem. Also South Point has some great horse shows and the Casino with Bass Pro shop has some awesome aquariums.
