Poll : 08 November - 21 November 2017

Q:

Are you all up for one more buffet poll?

We got to thinking that we should run a popularity contest for every buffet in the Buffet Capital of the World, including all buffets at all price points.

As such, we've made a list, in alpha order, of all 54 buffets on our Buffets page (and checked it twice; anyone who finds one that's on our buffet page and missing from the poll gets a year's membership to the LVA for free) and you can only vote for one -- your absolute all-time favorite. In other words, if you could eat at only one buffet in Las Vegas, which would it be?

This should be interesting to us, you, and the casinos. Please vote! And thanks for your participation.

Analysis

As you can see, the winner decidedly isn't the Wynn, Caesars, or Bellagio gourmet superspreads. True, M Resort's Medley Buffet wins by a nose -- three votes more than Wynn. But it received 12 votes more than Caesars,  20 more than Bellagio, and a whopping 67 more than the epic Sterling champagne Brunch at Bally's. Perhaps it shouldn't be that significant, given the Studio B's large and loyal following. On the other hand, M's regular dinner buffet at $24.99 costs 73.7% less that the Bally's brunch ($95)! And it runs $14 (35%) less expensive than Bellagio's, $18 (42%) less than Wynn's, and an amazing $30 (55%), less than the Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars, less than half.

Don't forget, this was a poll where price was no object. So there's no doubt about it: The Studio B is not only the most popular buffet in the Buffet Capital of the World, but it's unequivocally the best value out there.

As for the runners-up, they line up about as we'd've expected: Wynn, Caesars, Bellagio, and Cosmopolitan. However, Main Street Station's buffet coming in in seventh place is a pretty remarkable showing for a buffet where the regular dinner is $12.99. Like the Studio B, the Garden Court is profoundly popular (it placed so high in the low-end-buffet poll, there wasn't even a close second) and very good value. With LVA's Member Rewards coupon, it's a downright steal.

The Mirage buffet at #10 came in lower than we predicted, especially given the unlimited beer and wine there, and the Rio came in higher than expected (#8), given the complaints we receive about the quality going downhill and the whole cordoned-off seafood area (an extra $20-$22) setting up a mini caste system.

Red Rock's Feast Buffet just missed the top 10, which we believe is a good showing, but Aria's buffet receiving only 2% of the vote was a little lower than we might've anticipated.

Green Valley Ranch, Orleans, and Silverton led the rest of the pack, with the bottom 31 buffets receiving less than 10 votes each, six of which garnered no votes at all.

We deeply appreciate the more than 1,500 people who cast votes in this poll, along with the thousands who voted in the previous three buffet surveys. Given that we're right in the middle of negotiating next year's coupons, all four polls give us some ammo for targeting new buffets that our readers love.

    #1 Buffet
I've never eaten at a buffet I'd put in that category. I've found that buffets are usually quantity over quality, and always disappointing.

    My choice
We like the buffet at the Mirage for a general, all-purpose buffet. It’s the one with the best variety, tasty food & great choices. There are some that are better at doing some things than others, but if we could only pick one and never eat at any other, it would be Mirage.

An't go wrong at the "M"
Always good, huge assortment, beer and wine included. Every time I have been there the food is "moving". Hot, frequently replenished and just plain tasty.

My experience is that in the past it has been better than Bellagio which costs much more.

    For what it's worth, based on 1 - 10 I'd rate
the buffet at M at about an "8",
       Bellagio at a 5,
Red Rock, another buffet I go to frequently) at about a 6.5
       Harrahs "Flavors" a 3.5

    couldn't chose
This came in via email directly from Karen:

"I'm not voting in today's survey because I don't want to throw off the curve. I had trouble picking one because my preferences vary. I like the very expensive ones because I have never been & like to try new things. On the other hand, for what they charge, I can't eat enough to justify the price so I probably would never go back. Who cares if they have a million things if I only have room for 12? And fight crowds & pay for parking on top of it? My next reason would be try what other people like - So the "M" is on my bucket list, since so many QOD voters recommended them in previous surveys. And maybe most important to me is the room where I will be sitting for an hour or so. I love Main Street Station's room, that's my fave. I think I would really enjoy the ambience at Paris's buffet, so that's also on my bucket list. As a local though, any Stations buffet is great, perfect place to meet friends for lunch or dinner."

I have been in Vegas 2/3 times a year. Right now the Rio is my favorite. Also, since I rent a car, I have cut back in visiting the large resorts due to the high parking fees.

    heresay vote
Never eaten there, but picked M based on what I've read(primarily here). Probably best I've actually used was Planet Hollywood. Never used any that wasn't discounted or coupons. I WILL NOT pay for parking EVER.

    Buffet/Brunch
I only vote for what I have experienced. M is my choice. But If I could vote for a presumptuous one it would be The Sterling Brunch at Bally's. If I was alone I would do that. Since my wife doesn't get any benefit from expensive ventures, most are not worth the price for her.

    Flawed question
You ask which buffet I'd pick if price were no object. So I picked Caesar's Bacchanal Buffet since it's far more costly than would I'd normally choose.

May I suggest you should have asked which buffet is your favorite? Had you asked that, my answer would be the M Resort.

    That's a Tough one
Based on taste and quality only, it would be Studio B and the buffet at Bellagio, but Based on the great times We've had, the frequency of visits (we have stayed more times that I can count at the Orleans because of bowling tournaments and the great people there that treat us great!) well It would be the now named Medley buffet at the Orleans. The service and the great memories still count!

    Top Buffet
I still like Aria the best of everything i have tried. My second at one time would have been Rio, but who knows anymore? At least with Aria, I know they are still top of the line, year after year!

  • Robert Byrne Nov-08-2017
All time favourite regardless of price
I'd always go for Bally's Sterling Brunch, even though it's the most expensive

    atmosphere is king
In general there are few buffets in Las Vegas that are worth the disappointment no matter how extravagant. In fact, the more extravagant/expensive, the worse I feel for wasting a comp or money when I could have had a nice quiet sit-down meal. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast buffet at Paris. Their egg/omelet station design is (or was...it has been a year or so) customer friendly, all food was good and the whole experience was enjoyable. The cashiers, seaters, and servers were way more welcoming than at any of the "big three" on the Strip, where it feels like feeding time at the zoo. So, Paris got my vote.

    Very difficult to choose
I usually eat cheap breakfast buffets and I have my favorites among those. For supper, I prefer to order off a menu, but I've tried one of the higher cost buffets (Paris) and it was good, but I imagine others are better. If money were no object, I would like to try many of the elite buffets, but having never tried them, I wouldn't know which one to vote for. If nothing else, your polls got me thinking that maybe I need to open up the wallet and try a couple top enders. Based on the comments from your polls, I'm putting the mid-priced M on my list.

    Price no object?
    It's the Bacchanal Buffet.

    Best quality and value?
    Maine Street Station, hands down.

    Breakfast only!
I only eat a breakfast buffet and for the money give me Sam's Town or even Palace Station.

  • Maureen Nov-12-2017
    Bellagio
If we went though life contemplating price, location, parking fees and anything else that holds us back from a great meal with friends or a loved one it would be a shame. Life is too short, Vegas is the place to enjoy life's LITTLE pleasures while we can. Health, Happiness and sharing.....

    Cravings Buffet best Value
We just returned from Vegas and used 3 of our buffet coupons from our rewards book. First buffet was Cravings at the Mirage. Excellent Value. Beer and wine included on dinner buffet. Hot crab (large pieces and easy to crack) , fresh food and beautiful desserts. Paid $30.00 with coupon/ $15.00 for 2 people with wine is a value that is hard to beat.
Next, tried the Golden Nugget downtown. Thursday night was Italian night with added cost for specialty night. Disappointed , nothing special most entres were over cooked and dry.
Was really looking forward to our Wicked Spoon buffet at the Cosmo . Overpriced in my opinion. Very nice salad selection, nice carving station. Crab was cold and small , hard to open. Asian and Italian stations. Individual servings , nice for tasting a small sample but can dry the food out fast. At $49.00 on Friday night without the 2 for 1 coupon , I would have felt I paid too much.

    How do you get there?
Since The Deuce stops at Mandalay Bay, does a bus continue to M Resort? Without a car in Vegas, how do I get there fast and cheap? I am sure I would like it a lot as we also like both Orleans and Main St. on the low end.
