Poll : 28 October - 10 November 2020

Q:

We received a QoD submission and turned it into this poll: What are the best Vegas locals spots for breakfast?

We came up with our own favorites and the poll preview last week provided a lot of excellent additional choices.

We also like the idea of a second poll for the best breakfasts at tourist-corridor casinos, but we also wanted to include the suggestions that came on poll-preview day, so just a few of those are at the bottom, though only one downtown and none on the Strip; thus, they qualify (mostly) as locals places.

And though it required a little extra effort to add the street locations, you're worth it!

You can vote for as many as you like.

Analysis

As expected, the tried-and-true eateries won the breakfast popularity contest.

The Peppermill, of course, is the perennial favorite -- and it has been since it opened in 1972, 48 long years ago.

The rest of the choices constitute the best list we've ever seen of breakfast joints locals frequent. You can't go wrong at any of them, though we ourselves tend to gravitate to a few closer to the bottom: Weiss, Harrie's, Rooster Boy, Crepe Expectations, and Mary's Hash House (over Hash House a Go Go, frankly).

Going out to breakfast is one of the great pleasures in life and when in Rome, why not do like the Romans do?

    Arizona Charlies
The video poker sucks anymore but the breakfast specials are a great deal.

    I would have picked Du-Pars but . . .
. . . unlike the Du-Pars in CA they don't have Welsh Rarebit on the menu, so big deal, they have eggs like everybody else. I picked Peppermill because they are Peppermill!

    Just a few
I haven't been to many of these. That's for the locals who have more time. but I chose Blueberry Hill, always good, Arizona Charlie's which always has good food at good prices and Marilyn's in the Tuscany, which is really good and the comps you can get at the casino always adds up quickly AND easy to get to, even from the Strip. I just wanted to make one more comment and that I did NOT vote for Peppermill. We thought it was overrated and if memory serves, overpriced compared to other choices

    My favorite
I was hoping to see Vickie's Diner on the list. We never visit Las Vegas without a trip to Vickie's (formerly Tiffany's formerly something else) next to the former White Cross Drugs. I also agree with Ray that Peppermill is highly overrated. It's fine to go once to check out its old Las Vegas vibe, but the food is nothing special and not worth a return visit.

    Don't forget these two
Copper Wisk and Medley Buffet (when it opens) at The Orleans. They have good food, at reasonable price and the family atmosphere (like the South Point Places) is great. I think Michael Gaugahn did it right the first time at The Orleans and repeated the formula at South Point, and even if the names changed the atmosphere si still the same. Shure they are not Gourmet places, but they are a great choice for value, good food and a great place for a vacationist to have their breakfast.

    No breakfast
I don't get up early enough for breakfast in Vegas. Plus I stay at a place with a kitchen so I usually have my coffee and snacks in the room before showering and heading out for the day.

    Results
Not being a local I haven't been to most of these places. Some on this list are chain restaurants that I have tried and are pretty good, but I'll wait for the results to see what the real locals say about where to get a good breakfast.

Only in Vegas (well, maybe Phoenix too)
Since most of the year, it's already hot enough by morning that you can cook eggs and fry bacon on the sidewalk, maybe "The sidewalks of Vegas" should be a possible response.
