Poll : 29 May - 11 June 2019

Q:

We haven’t run this poll for nearly 10 years and a lot’s happened on the entertainment front since then. For example, Criss Angel has parted ways with the company, Viva Elvis came and went, and R.U.N. will open at Luxor in October.

The question is, what are your current thoughts about Cirque du Soleil?

As always, thank you for the feedback on improving the poll. Here's looking at you Candy, Llew, and Ray.

You can vote for as many choices as you like, though we expect that will be mostly limited to two choices: your favorite show specifically and your prevailing sentiment about Cirque in general.

    Once was enough
Saw a Cirque show about 7-8 years ago because my wife wanted to go. while I appreciate the talent that it takes to do what the performers do and the potential danger, if there was a plot, I missed it. I found myself looking at my watch.

    Won't go to another one.

    no plot
Hey Ron Z., your story reminds me of when I saw "Cats" in New York City, 1987. In the first half I struggled to figure out the story line. At intermission, the lady next to me said she had seen Cats many times. I asked her to "catch me up on the story." She said "Oh, honey, don't worry, there is no story, no plot. You just enjoy the characters and the music and choreography." Then I got it, and loved it.

As far as the Cirques I've seen, they didn't have story lines per se. Themes maybe, but not plots. More like circus acts without animals; amazing (and scary) acrobatic feats by humans. Not for every taste.

I read that some 9000 people view a Cirque show in Las Vegas every night! Just in Las Vegas! Different strokes.

    Still great
The current lineup of shows is still Great, Well done, well produced, well directed and excelently excecuted. You don't need more drama, you don't need more production value, you don't expect more plot, just have fun, enjoy the entertainment value these shows bring. I would certanly love if they where cheaper, but that's why we have our Advisor deals and coupons, and then there is Tickets for tonight and tickets for less. I have gladly seen several shows up to four times ( on diferent visits), and they still are very entertaining, so why change anything. It's the same as Vegas It's self, It has changed a lot, but, has it realy changed for the better?. Now they are "discovering" that you don't need to implode everything, that you can remodel and keep the charm of the old places.
