Poll : 23 May - 05 June 2018

Q:

It's been more than eight years since we last ran this poll. And since our new website is now more than a year old, we thought we run it again, both for our own edification and on behalf of anyone who might be inspired by it. The question is: Have you ever posted a comment and/or rating on any page on LasVegasAdvisor.com?

A:
600 Total Votes
No, I like to read other people’s comments, reviews, and ratings, but I don't bother to post my own.

Yes, I post the odd comment here and there, but not as often as I could.
35% (209)
No, I didn’t even know I could add a comment. How can I do that?
9% (52)

Analysis

The results are a little better than what we expected. It's gratifying to see that 200-plus voters (35%) comment on the content on this site at least from time to time.

We also figured, however, that a number of respondents don't know how to get the comment function to work. There's nothing to it. Like most websites, you have to be logged in for comments to be accepted.

It's absolutely free to sign up; just go to the Free Gold Membership page, input a username and password, confirm the password, click on the Captcha box, then hit Register. You've done it on a hundred other sites and it takes less than a minute. Then you're a member and can comment to your heart's content.

We really appreciate receiving 600 votes about a subject that's close to home.

    Of Course!
The "regulars" may find my comments repetitive or obvious, but that is not always so for the casual visitor to Vegas. Heck, there must be a lot of "newbies" out there or the Time-Share Vultures would go out of business! Sure, I really want to buy a condo in a city that has over 100 murders a year, albeit most of them "Off Strip" I also want to pay taxes and maintenance fees on a property that I barely-own. GMAB.

Link to submit QOD doesn't work
For some reason the system doesn't allow me to submit a QOD suggestion of my own. I can vote and post comments to blogs and polls, etc. But when I click the link to suggest a QOD nothing happens. Thanks.

    occasional comments
Mostly I comment on QoD's that I think might add to the discussion. Since my parents lived there for several years and I was (and still am) a visitor, I feel I can supply a non-locals viewpoint with a lot of local experience.

    Kind of got lost
I use to post a lot on the old Forum but somehow I got away from that when they were down and have not gotten back into it.

    This in via email
I have submitted comments via email and they have been taken into consideration. I'm not a member but have been reading the QoDs since they started.

For some reason a friend wanted to make another account at LVA in about 2004 and asked if he could use my email address (I hope he wasn't scamming you) and I started getting the QoD emails.

I'm not a particular fan of LV (the only city I have gotten REPEATED food poisoning in), but being a scholar of gambling I had to keep tabs on it, and the QoDs turned out to be an invaluable, eclectic, and entertaining resource for that. And since I was never a member, in olden times when I went on vacation, I actually hired somebody to copy each QoD daily so I could read them all when I got back.

So that's my QoD story, maybe someday I'll pony up for a membership to comment on the page - but then again I remember getting into really bizarre interwebz arguments with delusional gamblers in the past and it's not something I miss.
