Okay, gang, here's the first-timer restaurant poll.
As pointed out by Al in the comments on the poll preview last week, we needed to differentiate between restaurants that you like and those that impart a true Vegas experience, so a lot of the suggestions based on the former fell by the wayside. It wasn't easy; we eat frequently at Dona Maria's, for example, but we don't believe there's anything quintessentially Vegas about it. And we adore Border Grill, going there on numerous special occasions, but can do the same in downtown L.A. (and at food trucks around that city).
We altered Ray's suggestion on including price ranges by arranging the choices in price order from lowest to highest, except for the Circus Circus buffet; we couldn't resist salukidean’s suggestion of putting Circus Circus buffet first, after which everything will be an improvement (ha ha!).
You can vote for as many as you like and let us know in the comment boxes if we missed any obvious places or you'd like to comment on the ones we included. The selections with asterisks were also on EaterVegas's list that inspired ours.

We registered our approval of the Peppermill at number-one in the QoD with the link to these results, but we're extremely gratified to see Ellis Island at number two. Fancy it ain't, but you won't find better bargains and bigger portions anywhere in town, except perhaps at Emerald Island, which came in near the bottom, but still made the cut. Of course, it's the difference between one block and 25 miles from the Strip, but when it comes to first-timers availing themselves of iconic Las Vegas dining experiences, they'd do a lot worse than taking the advice of the greatest collection of experts on the subject that exists anywhere -- and hitting both Ellis and Emerald Islands.
We've had, we must admit, some reports of Hugo's Cellar having gone downhill since the shutdown, though it too, if it's anything like it used to be, is a classic Vegas affair -- along with Battista's.
Buffets are still the primary Vegas symbol of excess, though the $50 or so you'll spend for the prime rib dinner for two at South Point (with a players card discount) is just as emblematic as the Bacchanal at three times that price.
Beyond those are the views from the STRAT and Binion's, which can't be beat, the archetypal 62-year-old Golden Steer steakhouse, of course the hot dog at the sports book at South Point, and Lotus of Siam, considered by many the best Thai restaurant in the U.S.
These and the rest of the choices on the list will keep first-time visitors busy with classic Vegas dining experiences for their second, third, fourth, and even fifth trips here -- all thanks to you.
