Poll : 08 July - 21 July 2020

Q:

It's been three-plus years since we launched the new website and we haven't run this poll, on which pages of LasVegasAdvisor.com you most frequent -- for two and a half. We're interested in comparing which pages of LasVegasAdvisor.com you most frequent after three years of using the site to the results of the survey we took six months after launch. Obviously, the list of choices is finite, so it didn't require a poll preview; you can add your comments, including criticisms of and suggestions about the site on this page.

And as always, thanks in advance for voting. These internal polls are extremely useful in our planning and labor-allocation processes.

Analysis

First off, thank you all for participating. This poll received thousands of votes and being about our own website, that alone is a great vote of confidence.

As for the results, they definitely justify, as the previous similar polls did, where we tend to invest most of our time, energy, and resources when it comes to content management of our online presence. The top three -- QoD, Vegas News, and the polls -- take up the lion's share, so it's extremely encouraging to know that these pages are the biggest attention-getters.

The Top Ten, of course, is a perennial favorite and the feature that put the Las Vegas Advisor on the map nearly 40 years ago and has kept it there ever since.

But it's interesting to us to see that our long-term bloggers -- Jean Scott (even though she and Brad moved away from Las Vegas early this year), Bob Dancer, and David McKee -- remain as popular as they do. We're confident that Dapper Dave's Since You Asked and Conrad Stanley's Conrad's Capers will move up the ranks as their longevity lengthens.

As for the rest of the website, our researcher department has taken note of your preferences and will focus its attention on the more popular pages.

My daily go-to place! #2 is the forums.

    FAQ
I found the FAQ section by accident a few years back, then forgot about it. This poll reminded me of it. I wonder if readers know of this excellent repository of topics often thought about but perhaps not asked? Great info especially for upcoming first time Vegas visitors. The topics are even categorized with a drop-down list.

    Shop
I did't see a place for the Shop page, as I usually buy the books you publish.

    KS
I don't see it on the list, but can we vote Kitchen Sink off the island? LOL.

    Printable Rewards
I voted for printable rewards even though I haven't seen any new significant additions in quite a while. But I am not giving up and will keep checking. Thanks for all you do.

    Question of the day
My body clock wakes me up at 2a.m. everyday to read question of the day.

    Daily vs Newsletter
Although I scan LVA online almost every day, I print out and read the newsletter virtually cover to cover.
Most of the “news” section I have already read when I check that section to online periodically, so I just scan that. I also skip sections like hotel prices, weather, etc. that I don’t need except when I plan to visit.

I enjoy Bob Dancer and Jean Scott’s blogs. I’m only marginally interested in Las Vegas sports, so I don’t read the Golden Knights blog. Frankly, I was a bit happy when the season was cancelled because, sometimes, 2-3 of the blogs were about the GKs! Enough already!!
Overall, I enjoy the combination of the daily LVA and the Newsletter. Keep up the great work!

    Kitchen Sink
I did not see this on the list (and it really NEEDS to be there), can we vote Kevin Lewis off the Kitchen Sink? Please

  • Kevin Lewis Jul-10-2020
    Sorry, David
I have every right to be there, and so do you. I would never start some kind of crusade to throw you out.

    To ignore you, definitely.

Agree with David Miller on Kevin Lewis
There needs to be something added where a poster can block/ignore another poster. It would be nice not to be subjected to his stupid, hateful and moronic comments. I try to avoid them, but just end up avoiding being on here.

    Vegas News
Some parts I read everyday, some I only read once in awhile, depending on the subject of the day. So, I checked some columns that I read only once in awhile. I think the current selection of columns and subjects is excellent. There is always something to be learned at GWAE.

    I check the weather
One of the things I usually do every day is see what the weather is for the next few days. It would be nice if you could click on it and get the 7 or 10 day forecast, but if heading to Vegas soon I usually check on another site to see what clothes to bring, and to start getting pumped up for my trip.
