The issue is (practically) moot, given that the Clark County Commissioners voted unanimously to change the name from McCarran International to Harry Reid International, so it's (almost) a done deal; a petition on change.org is collecting signatures to change the name to Las Vegas International (as of this writing, it has more than 17,500 signatures).
Anyway, thanks to all the amusing comments last week on the poll-preview page, this has turned into something of a cross between popularity contest and an inside joke about Vegas (manifested primarily by the first names among the selections, but a few others as well). We've left in the serious names, of course, but the Ray's "sarcastic" selections definitely make this a fun poll. So choose your favored new name or names for the Las Vegas airport and let the tomfoolery begin!

Nearly half of respondents voted for the obvious name change, if the name is to change at all: Las Vegas International. We did too.
Our own second choice came in second as well, leaving the name alone, mainly due to the third-place answer: McCarran has been the name of the airport for more than 70 years and fewer and fewer through passengers know who McCarran was or what he stood for or or give a hoot if they do.
Of course, some people would like to see the name changed to Harry Reid: 4%, which is about what we'd've figured.
We also like the idea of the fifth-place choice, especially if the naming-rights fund are used to lower parking fees or subsidize snack-bar food. Really, what's the difference between proper names? If it's McCarran or Reid, why shouldn't it be Tesla or Coca-Cola or Twitter or Las Vegas Advisor International?
The first-name popularity contest came in just as expected, with Elvis way in the lead, followed by Bugsy, Oscar, and the Rat Pack.
