Analysis

As soon as we typed Mon Ami Gabi into the list of choices for this poll, we knew it would be the runaway number-one choice and our instincts were spot on. It's certainly the most visible al fresco venue along the Strip and, though it's a bit noisy and exhausty, sitting there almost in the middle of traffic on the Strip in front of Paris, it's still an extremely popular spot, not the least because the food there is so good.

Margaritaville, Beer Park, Cabo Wabo, and Senor Frogs, five of the top six vote-getters, are also highly visible as you cruise along the Strip, so they're certainly popular, but combined, their number of votes don't add up to Mon Ami Gabi.

SW Steakhouse at the Wynn overlooks the Lake of Dreams, as do the Terrace Pointe Cafe, Alex, and Mizumi, all of which received the number of votes we expected on a website that focuses on value for poll choices that are exquisitely expensive.

Likewise are the Wynn-designed Bellagio restaurants Lago, Prime, Spago, and Picasso that all have great views of the replica Lake Como.

Consider the rest of the choices, most of which earned 2% or less of the vote total, as the rest of the restaurants that feature outdoor dining in Las Vegas.

    No to Outdoor Dining
I don't do outdoor dining anywhere, even in Vegas. Weather, bugs, birds and just plain uncomfortable. No reason to eat outdoors when there is a perfectly good restaurant with indoor seating just sitting there. Hawaii is the only place I have ever and will ever eat outdoors.

    Anyplace without paid parking
Paid parking doubles the cost of a leisurely outdoor meal so why go to the strip? Las Vegas is full of fabulous restaurants, many with outdoor patios, and there are too many enjoyable options to even consider wasting time and money and the traffic hassle of the strip.

    None of the above
I have never eaten at any of those places. However I love dining alfresco at Merkato on Arville St and at Echo and Rig in Tivoli village.

    Mon Ami Gabi = Paris
Mon Ami Gabi sticks to the Paris theme and does it extremely well. As Las Vegas de-themes it becomes less interesting to me. Soon my parents will be unable to travel to Las Vegas, which is when I will stop going. The Las Vegas experience is a shell of what it once was.

    Mon Ami blueberry yummy
One breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi every trip is a must for one thing--we split an order of their Blueberry French Toast and a side of bacon...best bacon anywhere (I emphasize "crispy" when I order). Comes with sweetened whipped cream, fresh blueberries and blueberry syrup. To us it is the best meal in all of Las Vegas, and we've eaten everywhere. One order is plenty for two.

Hint: while we like the patio at Mon Ami, after we discovered the Atrium, which I call the room "inside the outside", we like that better. For those concerned about bugs, weather, bus fumes, and being on a wait list for the patio, try the Atrium. No waiting, has an outside feel, view just as good, less crowded, less noise.
