Poll : 25 December - 07 January 2020

Q:

The first year of the new decade was supposed to be the Big One for new developments in Las Vegas, but several of them have been pushed back a year or more. Still, this is the first time in many years that we've had enough selections to fill out even a short poll on the new things in Las Vegas that you're looking most forward to opening, which we conducted every year around this time up until the Great Recession of 2008.

Most of what's happening in 2020 involves convention centers, though Circa is reportedly on schedule to open in late December. So we're including the big deals that will open in 2021 as well; otherwise, this poll would be of little relevance.

In chronological order of opening, here are your choices for this poll: Which new Las Vegas developments over the next couple of years are you most looking forward to?

Analysis

Not surprisingly, Circa garnered the most interest by far. Other than the convention centers, which aren't really attractions on their own, along with Virgin, which is a remake, and the Downtown Grand tower, which are just hotel rooms, Circa is the closest to opening and the first really big deal to hit downtown in many decades. We're really curious about it too!

As Resorts World moves closer to opening (after experiencing a number of delays over the past five years), interest builds; number two is where it belongs in these results.

Allegiant Stadium strikes up as of limited interest to anyone but fans of NFL football and huge stadium concerts, but it's so big and visible, right there across the freeway from the south Strip, that its presence alone is generating a lot of buzz.

But we were definitely surprised by the Neon Museum placing fourth. Perhaps we shouldn't have been. We love this museum and we know a lot of our readers are highly nostalgic for Old Vegas too.

The Drew is still a few years off, but we're really looking forward to MSG Sphere coming online. The technology alone at this one-of-a-kind arena, whose price tag is skyrocketing to five times the cost of T-Mobile, will be something to see, inside and out. Along with Circa, Sphere is in our own top two.

    None of the Above
As someone suggested, 'None of the Above' would have been the choice for some of us.

Thanks, Sandy. An oversight that's now corrected. Sorry for those of you who've already voted ... but better late than never.
