Poll : 22 February - 07 March 2023

Q:

This poll is a suggestion from frequent contributor Dave, who noticed that, in our first poll on locals breakfast places, we mentioned a second poll on the best breakfasts at tourist-corridor casinos, which we never ran. Here it is.

These are the breakfasts that we like and that you suggested in the poll preview last week at casinos on the Strip, downtown, and Henderson, with a few locals casinos added to the mix.

You can vote for as many as you like; the results will be posted in two weeks.

Analysis

It's no surprise that of the top five tourist-corridor breakfasts, four are front and center on or near the Strip: Peppermill, Village Pub, Mon Ami Gabi (our own number-one choice), and Hash House A Go Go, with the enormously popular Garden Buffet bringing up the rear, at least geographically.

The long-time-favorites, Binion's and Magnolia coffee shops, represent the top of the tourist corridor, along with Saginaw's, Siegel's 1941, and Eat.

Just these handful of breakfast spots alone will keep even frequent visitors busy for several trips; the rest will round out years' worth of Vegas visits. We've been known to return again and again to Ocean One (for breakfast and lunch), Del Mar Deli, Chin Chin buffet, perennial bargain eatery Emerald Island, and of course Siegel's Bagelmania.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions, votes, and comments.

    Main
Did you forget Main St. Station? Or just ignoring it? It's the best place for breakfast and you can get a bottle of champagne for 20 bucks more.

    Well
I've never eaten at any of these places, so I'll abstain from voting. I have eaten breakfast at the TI cafe and it was alway tasty, but generally had way too much food.

As much as I love Ellis Island...
...and especially the cafe, any time of day, I still had to vote for Eat downtown. OMG, every meal I've ever had there has been SO good. Ellis Island for a late dinner or good-God-it's-late meal.

    breakfast is breakfast
I can't get excited about the standard American breakfast. That's why we prefer Garden Court Buffet, so we can mix up Mexican, Chinese, meats, etc., and maybe get oatmeal, bagel and cream cheese.

    Southpoint Garden Buffet
I’m agreeing with the comment just before mine that one can enjoy a variety of foods and dishes for breakfast at Southpoint and the price is right especially if you have a players club card. After that I would suggest Ellis Island for breakfast, lunch and dinner if you’re using a budget. I also like the Main Street buffet for breakfast.

    lifelong nite-shifter
I'm not an early morning meal person, don't drink coffee either. When I eat breakfast foods it's late at nite, places like the Peppermill. Stay out late having fun, sleep late the next morning, a late lunch is my first meal of the day.

    Favorite
I was away and disconnected for a bit and missed my chance to add suggestions, but Main Street's buffet would have been one of mine (at least pre-Covid). My other would have been the Favorite Bistro in the Linq Promenade for really good french toast.

I wish I could vote for 2 on the list. But since I can only pick one, it's the Peppermill, hands down. Breakfast portions are so 'yuge' that two people could share one meal. The food is always well prepared and delicious, and the waitstaff are some of the friendliest people you'll ever want to meet. Oh and did I mention the vintage, old Vegas decor creates such a cool ambience? The Peppermill is AAA+ all the way in my book.

Having said all that, my second choice (if I had a 2nd choice) would be Ri Ra. An English pup setting that also serves awesome breakfasts. The portions aren't as big, but the preparation is excellent as are the flavors. Very friendly staff there as well.

    Mon Ami Gabi
Mon Ami also being my favorite, I feel compelled to describe my 'wouldn't order anything else' breakfast:

Blueberry French Toast, and a side order of their wonderful bacon. A friend recommended the BFT or I wouldn't have thought to try it since at most places a similar French Toast disappoints.

Do specify "crispy" on the bacon, as a time or two it came out less than crispy, but depends on your preference. And you can ask for extra/more whipped cream.

We split one order of this decadent dish (and the bacon), more than enough for both of us. Have tried a few other things at Mon Ami, omelets usually being our thing, but the Blueberry French Toast and bacon beats all. Enjoy!

P.S. don't think you have to wait for a table outside. The Atrium (just inside the outside) is just as good, actually quieter, still very scenic. We found we like it better.
