Question of the Day - 01 February 2026

Q:

Hear about Harry Reid airport with number of travelers, food, flights etc. Any such thing in Henderson airport. Are there any flights the public can take and is it easier to get around?

A:

Henderson Executive Airport (HND) doesn't offer any scheduled commercial passenger flights. Sorry.

Known as HND to the FAA and HSH to IATA (the International Air Transport Association, the global trade association for the airline industry), it serves primarily as a "reliever" airport, meaning a place where corporate jets, private charters, air taxi operations, and even a few military aircraft can relocate when the commercial airport gets crowded -- for example, during Super Bowl LVIII (2024) at Allegiant Stadium.

It's the same up at North Las Vegas Airport (VGT). Both are publicly owned and operated by Clark County and handle hundreds of thousands of flights annually (VGT 200,000 and HND 80,000 on average these days), but neither offers scheduled commercial passenger flights.

    Runways
The runways at both of those airports are on the short side of what you would typically see for commercial flights. That would limit the types of planes that could fly in or out of the airports.

Interesting since I hear flights flying over our house everyday in Henderson Inspirada. Now I have to go buy a plane so I can fly outta there!
