Question of the Day - 05 June 2004

Q:
What are floormen, pitbosses, shift managers, etc.?
A:

A dealer is in charge of a single table game in the casino pit. A floorman oversees several tables, sometimes as few as four, sometimes as many as eight or ten or even twelve. But if a floorman is responsible for more than around six tables, he's more of a pit boss, who generally oversees an entire pit, including a number of floormen. A shift boss supervises all the pit bosses and, in some casinos, the slot department (though in other casinos the slot department has its own bosses). Finally, the casino manager is responsible for all the shift managers, including table games and slots.
