Question of the Day - 10 June 2004

Q:
What are my options for hosting a group of around 15 people in a restaurant with a view on the Las Vegas Strip?
A:

There are five restaurants (open to the public) with views of the Las Vegas Strip: Top of the World at Stratosphere, Voodoo Café at the Rio, Alize at the Palms, Ranch Steakhouse at the Horseshoe, and the Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris.

The Top of the World can seat groups of up to 17 people (though at two separate tables). Members of the party can order off the regular menu, or can order off a special group menu. Reservations are required, though no specific amount of time in advance. The best time to eat is 6-7 p.m.

The Voodoo Café can accommodate as many people (up to 290) as is requested; a full buyout of the Café runs $25,000 to $150,000, depending on the time and day. Groups of more than 12 must order off a group menu. They’ll take reservations up to a year in advance. Groups of 12 or less are seated at 5, 5:30, 6, 6:30, 9, and 9:30 p.m. Groups of more than 12 must make special arrangements.

At Alize, groups of more than 12-14 (depending on how busy they are) must order off the group menu (which can be viewed at AlizeLV.com). Alize will take reservations up to three months in advance.

The Ranch Steakhouse takes groups of up to 20. Everyone orders off the regular menu (no group menu). Reservations are taken up to two weeks in advance. The best time to eat is before 6 or after 9 p.m.

The Eiffel Tower Restaurant has a private room called the Left Bank, which seats up to 50. Located in a private corner of the restaurant, it's often used for large groups. Group menus are required for parties of 11 or larger. Reservations for non-group dining are taken up to 60 days in advance.
