Question of the Day - 25 June 2004

Q:
Which hotels have the best video arcades?
A:

Not surprisingly, the biggest and best arcade isn't in a casino. GameWorks, designed by Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks, has nearly 250 different games in 50,000 square feet of space in the Showcase Mall at the corner of the Strip and Tropicana. It's got a 75-foot-tall freestanding rock-climbing structure (supposedly the world's tallest), several virtual games (racing, batting cage), a popular Jurassic Park game, and lots of others.

The Sahara has a large arcade, usually less crowded than GameWorks. Here, you'll find upwards of 120 interactive games, including the CyberSpeedway racing simulators, several motion-simulator theaterss, and the ferocious Speed roller coaster.

Luxor has a high-tech arcade with lots of racing simulators and motion rides, including a roller coaster simulator you design yourself.

New York-New York's second-floor arcade is 32,000 square feet, with a couple hundred midway-type and video games, including an eight-person Daytona racing simulator and laser tag, plus the Manhattan Express roller coaster.

Monte Carlo has a surprisingly large and high-tech arcade.

Circus Circus and Excalibur are known more for their midway-style than video games.
