Question of the Day - 04 July 2004

Q:
I recently played a blackjack game called Super Fun 21 that offers lots of interesting player options. Is this game better or worse than normal blackjack?
A:

It’s significantly worse. Super Fun is dealt from a single deck, which is good for players, and has liberal rules—except for one: natural blackjacks pay even money (instead of the standard 3-for-2). That one is a killer, as it sets the casino advantage in this game at close to 1%. That’s twice to three times the edge of regular blackjack.
