You might have to settle for halfway.
The Nevada Gaming Commission has unanimously approved the licensing of the Planet Hollywood principals, who have probably taken over the property by the time you're reading this. Robert Earl, PH's CEO, has indicated that he'll invest $100 million in upgrading the property over the next year and a half. Renovations will include replacing the Aladdin's facade with a Planet Hollywood exterior, remodeling the casino, and adding restaurants, a 1,300-seat showroom, and a 500-seat TV studio.
Will this change the Aladdin's classiness to tackiness? Maybe. But it's hard to see how Planet Hollywood could transform the Aladdin into something other than what it already is. PH isn't talking about structural alterations; they're not messing, so far, with the architecture, design, layout, etc. (They probably don't have the money to rebuild the place -- and if ain't broke...) So you might be a little disappointed the next time you see the place, but not entirely brokenhearted.
