Question of the Day - 18 October 2004

Q:
I recently read your article at USA Today.com and you mention Terrible's $4.95 chicken dinner will easily feed two. Isn't there also a not so heavly advertised splitting fee that almost doubles the price? It seems as if I've read about it somewhere.
A:

Yes. There's a plate-splitting charge of $2 for the $4.99 chicken dinner -- half a rotisserie chicken, dinner salad, rice, beans, corn-on-the-cob, and tortillas -- at Terrible's coffee shop (served 24/7).

We don't recommend paying the $2 extra, which brings this meal to $6.99. Instead, if you're with someone else, spring for the second dinner ($9.98 for two) and take out the leftovers.

By the way, you almost certainly read about it in the Las Vegas Advisor Top Ten (the March 2004 issue). That's where we wrote about the plate-splitting charge for this best-chicken-dinner-in-Vegas deal.
