Question of the Day - 27 June 2005

Q:
Which Las Vegas casino hotels have the best video arcades?
A:

Although most casinos have some form of arcade, several stand out as being elaborate, cutting edge, and/or specifically geared to the youth market for which these games are typically created. Circus Circus, which has always billed itself as a family oriented hotel, leads the pack with two major arcades: one in the Adventuredome and another located above the main casino, on the midway level. It's no surprise that Excalibur, Circus Circus' sister property, also has a fully stocked arcade (Fantasy Faire Midway).

New York-New York's Coney Island Emporium often goes heads-up against Circus Circus' midway for the "Best Arcade on the Strip" title in the local papers' annual readers' polls.

Although not associated with a casino, Gameworks, created by Sega and Universal Studios, is a cutting-edge entertainment experience that includes an elaborate arcade. Gameworks is located on the Strip next to the MGM Grand and is marketed to adults as much as to kids.

Finally, many of the larger locals' casinos, especially ones with movie theaters and/or on-site child care, have well-outfitted arcades. Try the Coast and Station casinos, including Green Valley Ranch, which is known to have one of the better ones.
