Question of the Day - 24 September 2005

Q:
What hotels in Las Vegas permit a Saturday arrival for a one night (or longer) stay?
A:

While calling around to find out which hotels allow Saturday arrivals, we learned one thing for sure — it’s best to call as early as possible to book a room. Most visitors to Vegas seem to already be here once Saturday rolls around and most Saturdays are booked pretty solid, we were told. One room reservation agent even told us it had been "a few years" since someone called him inquiring about a Saturday arrival.

Of the properties surveyed, we found that most allow Saturday arrivals, depending on availability, of course. One room-reservation agent suggested keeping in mind that policies and procedures can often change based on consumer and property needs. Some of the properties that allow Saturday arrivals include: Bellagio, Paris, Hard Rock, Bally’s, Venetian, Mirage, Aladdin, Golden Nugget, Barbary Coast, Imperial Palace, Las Vegas Hilton, Excalibur, MGM Grand, Flamingo, New York-New York, Orleans, TI, Fremont, and Wynn.

As for the properties that don’t allow Saturday arrivals or have some sort of rule in place about it, here’s what we found:

Casino Royale: No Saturday arrivals ... period.

Palms: If reservations are made far enough in advance, they sometimes allow a Saturday arrival in November and December.

Circus Circus: Certain Saturdays are offered as arrival days. On these days, you’re allowed a Saturday arrival, but there’s a two-night-minimum stay.

Luxor: Normally allows it, but designates some days as "no-arrival" days.

Mandalay Bay: MBay has no-arrival days as well, so it basically depends on whether or not the Saturday you want to come in is one of those designated days, and the only way to find out is to check in advance.

Rio: Doesn’t allow one-day-stay arrivals. You would have to stay both Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday nights.

California: They follow certain "patterns" throughout the year, which dictates whether or not you can arrive on a Saturday.
