Question of the Day - 01 October 2005

Q:
Are any of the casino-hotels in Las Vegas pet-friendly?
A:

Throughout our survey, we were told repeatedly that, due to health-code restrictions involving food and beverage departments, pets aren’t allowed in any Las Vegas hotel-casino. Nevertheless, we were able to dig up a short list of hotels that have found a way to circumvent the restrictions. Out of 92, the following eight allow pets.

Hotel-Casinos Ellis Island Super 8: Charges $15 per night. There’s no limit on number or size of pets.

Green Valley Ranch: Charges $100 per night plus a $300 refundable deposit. Pets must weigh less than 20 pounds, "give or take a couple."

Hacienda: One section of the hotel allows pets for $20 per night, plus a $100 refundable deposit. There’s no weight limit.

Speedway: Charges $10 per night. Pets must weigh no more than 20 pounds and are limited to two per room.

Westin Casuarina: Charges $35 per stay plus a refundable $150 deposit. Pets weighing more than 40 pounds must be approved by a manager.

Non-Gaming Hotels Four Seasons: Pets are allowed free of charge but they must weigh less than 25 pounds.

Hawthorn Suites: Charges $50 per stay. There’s no weight restriction but only two pets are allowed per room.

Ritz-Carlton Lake Las Vegas: Charges $125 per stay. Pets must weigh no more than 25 pounds and there’s a limit of two per room.
