For a city known for both public displays of flesh and abundant sunshine, surprisingly few options in Las Vegas are available to those wishing to bare all. In fact, for the nearest clothing-optional "resort," you’ll have to venture to Corona, Cal., where the Glen Eden Nudist Club, founded in 1963, offers all the amenities you’d expect at a regular family holiday resort, including heated indoor and outdoor pools, spa, sauna, tennis and volleyball courts, gym/fitness center, restaurant, playground, and even an outdoor chapel. In terms of accommodation, options include self-catering-style rental apartments, camping sites, and RV hook-up sites. For further information visit www.gleneden.com.
As far as Las Vegas is concerned, there are no actual resorts, but there are a number of clubs for nudists which have regular get-togethers and sometimes organize trips to out-of-town resorts.
The most established of the Las Vegas area nudist clubs is Nevada Sun Rancho, located about 40 miles south of the city at Sandy Valley. We tried without success to obtain information about its activities, but for further details you can try calling toll free on 888/786-5872 or visiting its Web site at www.sunrancho.com
The principal nudist group in Las Vegas itself is the Las Vegas Bares. They are a non-landed group, but sponsor nude and clothing-optional day and overnight trips to hot springs or nudist resorts. They also have scheduled clothing-optional BYOB parties in Las Vegas, hosted at one of their member’s homes. These generally consist of activities like nude foosball, water volleyball, and Twister, plus opportunities for getting an all-over tan or relaxing in a hot tub. You’re required to visit a few times before joining up for membership, which costs $25 a year for singles or $40 for couples. Advantages of membership include discounted rates at the Common Ground B&B (see below). For further information visit their Web site at www.lasvegasbares.com.
There’s also another small club we found called North West Naturists. It’s a group "for couples and cool people," which gets together every couple of weeks or so to play water volleyball. For further information, email them at [email protected].
As far as accommodation is concerned, until fairly recently Las Vegas offered two options for nudists. However, the popular Our House venue changed hands awhile back and the new owners chose not to continue the clothing-optional policy. This means that Common Ground is now the only nudist-friendly accommodation we’re aware of in town. Located near Tropicana Avenue and Boulder Highway, Common Ground calls itself a "clothing-optional commune" and welcomes day and overnight guests for sunbathing, regular parties, and use of their facilities, which include an enclosed 10-person spa, heated pool, clubhouse with big-screen TV, pool table and games, putting green, community kitchen, and laundry facilities. You can give them a call 702/731-6935 for further information prior to your first visit.
Note: Be aware that Common Ground is owned by and located next door to the Red Rooster, Vegas’ oldest swingers club, and that we’ve been advised it might not be a good venue for first-timers or those opposed to the swinging lifestyle.
Lastly, if partial nudity suffices, there are currently a number of venues in Las Vegas that have specific pools where topless sunbathing is permitted; check out our Cool Pools feature for listings, hours, cover charges, and more.
