We've had a lot of inquiries relating to the closure of the Westward Ho, as well as mourning the passing of this bargain-hunter's favorite, which is set to officially close its doors next Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005.
The answer to this QoD is short and sweet. Yes, the contents will be sold, but no, fixtures and fittings won't be made available to the public to buy through public auction or sale, since everything is being turned over to liquidators and salvage companies, which will then dispose of them as profitably as they can.
If you happen to be in town before the 17th and are a known regular, however, there might yet be some opportunities to pick up the odd knick-knack, since we were informed by hotel operations that loyal customers who've asked for specific items have often been accommodated, at nominal charge, and have then been free to ship their chosen item back home.
As for chips, just show up and buy in at the tables. Until the casino closes, the chips will remain in circulation and the Ho would love for everyone to take home souvenir chips, since they make a good profit when the chips are bought but not redeemed.
