Q:
Throughout the '70s and early '80s, my parents stayed at Hopp's Motel/Apartments on Paradise. Can you tell me when Hopp's was torn down and what is located on that site now? I believe the owner's name was Warren Hopp.
A:
Hop’s Motel (it was spelled with one "p") was a longtime favorite of conventioneers, who loved the location at 3412 Paradise Road, on the corner of Desert Inn Road, directly across from the Convention Center -- and long-term snowbirds, who loved the large suites with kitchenettes. It was built on a 2.5-acre site in the '50s and torn down a few years ago to make way for a 15-story, 548-room Marriott Renaissance Hotel, which uses the address of 3400 Paradise Road.
