Question of the Day - 15 August 2006

Q:
I've heard there's a school for strippers in Las Vegas. Is this true?
A:

Yes.

As we reported in this month's issue of the Las Vegas Advisor, a studio space called Stripper 101 is located in the Desert Passage Mall at the Aladdin, directly above the V Theater. The press release claims that women can "unleash their inner bombshell" and that Teri Hatcher, Pam Anderson, Carmen Electra, and Kelly Ripa have all caught on to the striptease craze.

Opened on June 29, the studio is owned by David Saxe, a Las Vegas show producer (and brother of Melinda Saxe, a long-time illusionist). Stripper 101 teaches "striptease cardio" in a low-impact aerobic-workout class that covers more than 25 sexy floor moves, some with poles, chairs, and boas, though no nudity.

Classes are taught by an exotic dancer and are held Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 5 to 6 pm. They cost $25, but that includes a cocktail, a T-shirt, and a "genuine Las Vegas stripper certificate."

Update 26 February 2007
There's a new school for strippers -- the "S" (for "sexy") Class at SCORES gentlemen's club, featuring tuition by Fawnia Dietrich, who bills herself as the founder of the world's first exotic dance school. The SCORES hour-long classes are ladies only (there's a private entrance) and take place Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7 p.m. Call 702/367-6040 for reservations.
