We can do better than that -- we also surveyed the Strip and all the larger off-Strip and local hotel-casinos.
In-room coffee makers was actually the subject of one of our first QoDs when we re-started the feature in May 2005. Back then it yielded some surprising results, which still hold true today: Bellagio and Caesars don't provide coffee makers in their rooms, but Casino Royale and Fiesta Henderson do, for example. We covered all the reasons for this seemingly odd omission, considering that even the most basic overnight establishments elsewhere generally provide them, and the answers covered everything from the obvious desire of casinos to lure you out of your bedroom and downstairs to the more bizarre explanation that they were being used to manufacture crystal meth.
One new reason got added to the list this time: The Cannery and Luxor explained that they can't have in-room coffee makers, since it's against the fire regulations for their buildings. For the full original answer, check out the archives for 05/10/2005.
Since then, some properties have closed and others have opened, while we found still others have changed their policy in the interim. Last time around, the Las Vegas Hilton said they were considering introducing coffee makers, as it was the #1 most-requested item, but so far they haven't. On the other hand, the Gold Coast and Fitzgeralds both have added this amenity.
This time around, we've expanded our research to cover room-service policies and on-site signature coffee shops, like Starbucks. Click on this link to see our full findings and how and where you can get that morning cup of coffee in the comfort of your pj's.
