Question of the Day - 25 February 2007

Q:
Is there any truth to the rumor that Michael Jackson may be negotiating a contract to appear as a headline entertainer in Las Vegas?
A:

All that we can say at this juncture is that the rumors are not without some vague substance, but that it's a loooong way from anything being confirmed, that's for sure.

The troubled former pop icon is currently residing here in a home in Spanish Trails that belongs either to Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei or his father the Sultan. (The Brunei clan has had some money issues of late and the multi-million-dollar pad may have reverted to daddy, following some palace accounting last year).

In a recent interview with Robin Leach, Jacko revealed, "I'm doing fine and am well and really enjoying myself in Las Vegas. It's a great place to call home."

Not that he's been out riding the New York-New York roller coaster or partying at PURE, to the best of our knowledge. He's said to be in talks with Simon Fuller (of Spice Girls and "American Idol" fame) and choreographer Kenny Ortega (the director of High School Musical) about the concept of staging some kind of comeback here. "We're talking business and looking at lots of different possibilities." Hmm. That doesn't shed too much light and we're certainly not holding our breath.
