Question of the Day - 13 June 2007

Q:
I just got a new job, and to celebrate, I want to take my husband to Vegas for a three-to-four-day weekend. I want to stay on the Strip -- any suggestions? Haven't been to Vegas since July 1998, so we look forward to it.
A:

Forgive us for tooting our own horns a bit, but everything you need to plan a long celebratory weekend on the Strip is right here on this Web site. And it's all accessible from the home page.

For accommodations, check Travelaxe. This room-rate search engine identifies the lowest available prices for room rates at all the major and minor hotels on the Strip, so you can search for and book your accommodations at the same time.

Once you've determined where you're going to stay, you can plan your dining itinerary by clicking on "Restaurants" under "Vegas Info." From there, go to the "Find Restaurants in my Hotel" bar, select your hotel, and view all the dining options there. You can also check the map of the Strip on this site ("Las Vegas Maps" under Vegas Info) for the hotels nearby and check the dining at those. You can compare the user ratings on the individual restaurant pages themselves. You can also look up any restaurant in a casino in Las Vegas by cuisine by clicking on one of the two dozen categories on the main Restaurant page.

Do a separate search for "Buffets" -- of which you'll no doubt eat at least one -- under Vegas Info; our buffet listings are the most up-to-date on the Web.

Do the same for entertainment by clicking "Shows and Events" and "Nightlife" under Vegas Info, then specifying the dates of your trip to view your options when you'll be here.

Also under "Vegas Info," you can look at the major conventions to see if one coincides with your travel dates. You can check spas, pool parties, transportation options, the Top Ten values in Las Vegas, even Vegas TV and wi-fi hotspots.

And if you're not a Las Vegas Advisor member, pay a ridiculously low $5 for a temporary membership to be able to access nearly 10 years of the back issues of our monthly newsletter to read more than a thousand pages of reviews and commentary, plus check our member forums for thousands of discussions on all things Vegas, and even print out money-saving coupons from our "Daily Deals" page (under "Members" on the home page).

Information is power, especially when it comes to an overwhelming place like Las Vegas. The better prepared you are when you arrive, the more you'll get out of your trip. And a great place to prepare is right here at LasVegasAdvisor.com.

Congratulations on your new job. Your husband's a lucky guy.
