Question of the Day - 02 July 2007

Q:
What Las Vegas Strip properties have the best side-street or back-street entrances ... to avoid the constant foot traffic that blocks and/or slows down Las Vegas Blvd. entrance driveways?
A:

The West Side of the Las Vegas Strip Frank Sinatra Drive accesses the back doors of all the south and central Strip megaresorts, from Mandalay Bay to the Mirage, including Luxor, Excalibur, New York-New York, Monte Carlo, Bellagio, and Caesars. The thoroughfare starts at Russell Road and continues north to Industrial Road. It turns Industrial (known as Dean Martin Drive to the south) just after it runs under the I-15 freeway. Industrial then accesses the back doors of the Fashion Show Mall, the New Frontier, and Circus Circus.

The East Side of the Strip Koval Lane, a block east of the south Strip, provides access to the back door of MGM Grand. Farther north, Koval passes the front door of Ellis Island, the side door of the Westin Casuarina, and the back door of the Venetian and Harrah's (and Casino Royale, although that one's trickier to negotiate).

South again, at the corner of Koval and Harmon avenues, heading north, you take a left on Harmon and a quick right onto Audrie Street to access the back doors of Planet Hollywood, Paris, and Bally's. Audrie dead-ends at Bally's casino, so to get to the back doors of the Flamingo, Imperial Palace, and Harrah's, you have return to E. Flamingo and turn right onto Audrie at Battista's Hole in the Wall.

Paradise Road is good for going into the side entrance of the Hard Rock, the front entrance of the Las Vegas Hilton, the back entrances of the Riviera and the Sahara, and the front entrance of the Stratosphere.

Update 02 July 2007
Here's some more useful info from a real-life cabbie who requests to remain anonymous: "There are also all the shortcuts us cabbies use...between O'Sheas and the Flamingo Hotel...also, from Harmon and Koval to Flamingo and the Strip via Audrey and the 10 speed bump area behind Bally's...and, the four routes cutting through the MGM property. I suspect you don't want to publicize these as they are all on private property. And don't tell the other cabbies I informed you about these crucial time-savers."
