There are two main companies that sell half-price tickets for same-day shows in Las Vegas: Tix4Tonight and Tickets2Nite. You have to buy the tickets the day of the show and you'd better be certain that you're going, because there are no refunds or exchanges.
Tix4Tonight has emerged as the dominant player, with more show choices and outlets, though Tickets2Nite usually has an exclusive option or two. Tix4Tonight is also more consistent and upfront with its fees, charging a $4-per-ticket service charge. Tickets2Nite lists its fees neither in ads nor even at its booth. The last time we asked, we were told, "They range from $2 to $8."
Because the tickets are so heavily discounted, both half-price outlets have agreements with the shows that they won't advertise anywhere but at their box offices, so you must show up to buy same-day tickets.
Tix4Tonite has four locations: At the Strip entrance to Fashion Show Mall at Neiman Marcus; at the Hawaiian Marketplace on the Strip in front of the Polo Towers; on the north Strip just south of the Riviera; and downtown at the Four Queens.
Tix4Tonite also handles discounted last-minute tickets to sold-out shows. Get a sneak peak of some of the shows (and restaurant discounts) at the Web site, tix4tonight.com; the day this answer was written, they had 20% off for Zumanity, Phantom, and Blue Man Group, among others.
Also at the Tix4Tonite Web site, you can print out a coupon for $2 off the service charge. You can call for details at 877/849-4868; the outlets are open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Tickets2Nite has a single discount booth on the ground floor of the Showcase Mall on the Strip just north of the corner of W. Tropicana; it opens at 11 a.m. You can call 888/4tix2nite for details, and at the Web site, tickets2ite.com, they advertise that you can order by phone at 702/939-2222 ("to select shows with limited availability").
