Happy to oblige.
Echelon Place is a Boyd Gaming metaresort that will occupy the 87-acre Stardust-Westward Ho site. The total price tag of the project rose $800 million recently -- to $4.8 billion.
Five distinct hotels will comprise Echelon Place. The 2,500-room Hotel Echelon will be the wholly Boyd owned megaresort, along right with the Suites at Echelon next door; the smallest of the 650 suites will be 800 square feet.
The 860-room Mondrian Las Vegas and 550-room Delano Las Vegas will be operated by Morgans Hotel Group, which has upscale hotels in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, and London, owns the Hard Rock Las Vegas Hotel-Casino, and is investing nearly $1 billion. The Mondrian is being advertised as having a "Hollywood sensibility"; the Delano is meant to attract "young affluent travelers with its South Beach vibe."
The 350-room Shangri-La Las Vegas will bring the Shangri-La Group's Asia-Pacific "warmth and serenity"; it’s a luxury hotel chain in Asia and the Middle East that’s making a big move into North America, with hotels also opening in New York, Chicago, Miami, and Vancouver.
The total number of rooms and suites will approach 5,000. Each of the hotels will have its own spa.
The total casino space will be 140,000 square feet.
The total number of dining and nightlife venues: more than 30.
There’ll also be 4,000-seat and 1,500-seat theaters, plus 200,000 square feet of pools and outdoor gardens.
The retail promenade, called High Street, will comprise 300,000 square feet; it’s a joint venture with General Growth Properties, which is investing $500 million.
The total meeting and convention space: 750,000 square feet, including the central Meeting Center at 650,000 square feet (with the 180,000-square-foot exhibit hall), and the other 100,000 square feet divvied up among the Shangri-La, Mondrian, and Delano, for 110 meeting rooms in all.
Automobile access will be provided by seven different arrival points, with parking for 9,000 vehicles.
The current schedule calls for Echelon Place to debut in the third quarter of 2010, two and a half years from now.
