For this answer, we turn to Mike Attisano, whose new travel guide, Simplifying Las Vegas, is available on Kindle http://www.amazon.com/Simplifying-Vegas-Travel-Guide and as a pdf at www.simplifyinglasvegas.com.
Here’s Mike’s coverage of the ticket information for the venues where Las Vegas sports take place.
UNLV Because Las Vegas is a gambling mecca, many people don’t realize the abundance of college and professional sporting events that happen year-round. The first place to look is the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where students play football, men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball (women), men’s and women’s soccer, baseball (men), and softball (women).
Call 702/739-3267 or 866/388-3267 for ticket information. You can also email them at [email protected]. The UNLV tickets Call Center is open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Call Center is closed on some holidays. Also check out the UNLV tickets Web site for more information: http://unlvrebels.cstv.com.
Post-Season College Football The Pioneer Las Vegas Bowl, an ESPN Regional Television owned-and-operated event, is scheduled for 5 p.m. on December 20, 2008, at Sam Boyd Stadium on the UNLV campus. This bowl game is between the first selection from the Mountain West Conference vs. the fourth or fifth selection from the Pac-10 Conference. Last year’s game was between Brigham Young University and UCLA (BYU won 17-16). For tickets, call 702/732-3912 or visit the Web site at www.lvbowl.com.
ECHL Hockey: Las Vegas Wranglers During hockey season, the Wranglers play in the Orleans Arena at the Orleans Hotel-Casino, located just off the Strip at 4500 West Tropicana Avenue. Individual ticket prices range from $12.50 for adults ($7.50 for kids) to about $37 for front-row seats. For more information on tickets, call 702/284-777 or 888-234-2334. Average ticket prices are as follows: field level $13, plaza seating $11, reserved seating $9, general admission $8.
National Finals Rodeo This is the big one. The Thomas and Mack Center on the UNLV campus is filled with buckaroos and only the best of the best get to compete here. The first week and a half in December is crowded and expensive in Las Vegas, because of this event. Tickets sell out fast, so call early in the year (they go on sale in May) if you want to get good seats.
Ticket prices start at $41.50. You can purchase tickets by calling UNLV Tickets at 866/388-3267 Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can also find out more information about the event and tickets online at www.nfrexperience.com.
