We contacted our source in public relations at MGM Mirage and this is what she said. "No truth to the rumor. They are talking about a remodel, but not finalized. Of course, if it moves forward, the Brewpub would close for a short period of time ... but that's all."
We can see where the rumor came from, since the Brewpub at Monte Carlo, the only micro-brewery on the Las Vegas Strip, discontinued brewing its own beer in December 2006, when construction of the adjacent CityCenter project took over the building used for producing the beer. The name, for some reason, wasn't changed at the time, though.
The bar/restaurant itself is still going strong. It's known for various sliders (burger, tenderloin, veal cheek) and we've heard the fish & chips is excellent. There's some outdoor seating (good view of the pool area) and TV monitors all over the place. The four-foot-tall "beer tower" is a hit with beer drinkers and though the joint no longer serves its own brews, it has a large selection of craft and on-tap beer.
