Question of the Day - 05 December 2008

Q:
Where is the Blackjack Hall of Fame located???
A:

We neglected, it seems, to identify the location of the Blackjack Hall of Fame in QoD 11/26/08, in which we (with an assist from the museum founder, Max Rubin) answered a question about how Hall members are selected.

The Blackjack Hall of Fame is located at Barona Valley Ranch Resort & Casino, 1932 Wildcat Canyon Road, in Lakeside, California, 30 minutes from downtown San Diego. From San Diego, you take I-8 to 67 North, drive five miles to the first light; turn right onto Mapleview Street, then left at the second light onto Ashwood Street, which turns into Wildcat Canyon Road. It's five miles to the main entrance.

The Hall of Fame was inaugurated in early 2002; in 2003, Barona created the physical space, where each inductee has a plaque with his photo and a few words about his accomplishments. There's also a display of devices used for cheating at gambling, such as marked cards, daubers for making cards, computers that fit into shoes, hold-out gadgets for card-switching, and the like.
