Barney Vinson, author of the classic Behind the Tables in Las Vegas two-book series, along with our books Casino Secrets and The Vegas Kid, tells us the following.
"I'm living the good life! I get up early every day to fix my lovely wife Debbie breakfast and pack her lunch. She leaves at seven each morning for her job at the county courthouse. By the time she arrives home, I've finished the laundry and grocery shopping, I have a light dinner waiting for her, and the mail is all opened and set aside in a neat stack. As she eats, she pays the bills and reminds me to post them the following day. Then she's off to her night-time job as a slot attendant at a local casino. Thoughtful husband that I am, I spend the evening taping her favorite television programs. Although it's time-consuming, I'm more than happy to do it; it keeps her occupied during her weekend job as a night watchman at the scrap-metal recycling center."
Barney adds that he no longer works in casinos. "The business has changed so much. I remember when people gambled at something besides slot machines and when actual celebrities played in the showrooms. But that was a long time ago."
