This is another of those events (like the Olympics) that can't be bet at the Las Vegas sports books but can online. There are different ways to bet the outcome, depending on which online book you use, but we'll use the lines at Pinnacle for this explanation. Pinnacle is offering "will win" props, meaning that you can bet that a certain player will win (Yes) or won't win (No) the event. For example, the best-known player at the table, Phil Ivey, is lined like this.
Yes: +603 No: -748
Translation: You can bet $100 to win $603 that Ivey wins, or bet $748 to win $100 that Ivey loses.
To identify the favorite, simply find the lowest payout to win. As of this writing, it’s chip leader Darvin Moon, who pays +334. Here are the current odds at Pinnacle, along with each player’s chip count.
| Name | Will Win | Chip Count |
| Darvin Moon | +334 | 58,930,000 | Eric Buchman | +463 | 34,800,000 |
| Steven Begleiter | +574 | 29,885,000 |
| Phil Ivey | +603 | 9,765,000 |
| Jeff Shulman | +612 | 19,580,000 | Joe Cada | +1537 | 13,215,000 |
| Kevin Schaffel | +1558 | 12,390,000 |
| James Akenhead | +1667 | 6,800,000 |
| Antoine Saout | +1717 | 9,500,000 |
As you’d expect, the odds are closely correlated to chip-count standings. The obvious exception is Ivey, who’s given a huge amount of respect for his high skill level. These odds will change leading up to the event as the public weighs in with its money. We’ll update the odds from time to time in Today’s News.
