Question of the Day - 23 August 2009

Q:
Why is Anthony Cools, who does a hypnosis show at Paris, Las Vegas, advertising himself on the back of moving billboards for Bobby Slayton, who plays the Trop? Aren’t those casinos owned by different companies?
A:

Indeed they are, but Slayton is one of several entertainers that Cools presents, when he’s wearing his producer hat. In addition to having his own show, Cools is also the impresario behind Slayton, Freaks at O'Shea's, British mentalist Luke Jermay (also at O'Shea's), and Beatles tribute band Penny Lane, which has moved into the 4 p.m. slot at the Trop.

Cools also presented a short-lived (and not very good) topless revue at Paris-LV, the low-budget Ooh-La-La. So, while Cools has three shows running at Harrah's-owned casinos, his contract as a presenter is clearly a non-exclusive one. It must be nice to have that kind of clout in this town.
