Question of the Day - 17 October 2009

Q:
I look at the blogs every day, and have noticed that Jean Scott has not had a new blog entry since October 7th. Her blog on that day referred to her bout with the swine flu. Is she okay?
A:

Fear not! The Queen of Comps is alive, if not exactly kicking just yet.

We checked in with Jean yesterday, just to makes sure she was okay, and here's what we learned. Both Jean Scott and her husband Brad have been very under the weather for six weeks or so, suffering from severe flu-like symptoms. While he tested negative for swine flu (Jean wasn't as sick as him so didn't bother getting tested), she was too ill to blog, or do much else, and it turns out she had succumbed to a secondary bacterial bug. While there's not much to be done about the viral symptoms, she's now on strong antibiotics for the bug and hopefully is finally on the road to recovery.

So, that's the reason for the absence of blogging of late. She did manage to post a health update today on Frugal Vegas and hopes to be back doing what she loves best -- telling you how to make your Las Vegas bankroll go as far as possible -- in the near future.

In the meantime, to the best of our knowledge our other two bloggers, David McKee (Stiffs & Georges) and Robin Camacho (The House Advantage) are both in rude health and are blogging merrily away about the the latest shenanigans in the casino industry(among many other things) and the Las Vegas real estate market, respectively.

As an aside, if you're remotely interested in looking for property in Las Vegas, whether as a first or second home, Robin just refined her unique Las Vegas Top 10 Real Estate feature, which calculates the top deals on the market in real time. It's definitely worth checking out.

If you're not familiar with Jean Scott's work, she's the author of many highly acclaimed books that will help you maximize all the advantages available to gamblers from the casinos, from players clubs, to comps, to coupons, to promotions, to identifying the best video poker games, to advising you about your taxes. You can find them all at ShopLVA.com.
