The parents of Stephen Alan Wynn and Elaine Farrell Pascal indirectly set their respective children up on a date while they were in college. They married in 1963, when both were 21 years old.
Twenty-three years later in 1986, Steve and Elaine were divorced for the first time. However, they continued to live together and remarried five years later after, as Wynn put it, "The divorce didn't work out." (Some observers at the time considered it a move to avoid taxes.)
Rumors about 67-year-old Wynn's marriage began circulating right after the opening of Encore just before Christmas last year. Apparently, Elaine and daughter Kevyn were seen crying there -- and the tears didn't appear to be from happiness.
The Wynns filed for their second divorce on March 5, 2009; that same day, the divorce papers were sealed by a judge, meaning that no details of the proceedings are public, at least not so far.
But according to the famous Page Six of the New York Post, the Wynns had separated several months earlier, but kept the split quiet. Page Six sources reported that Wynn had "fallen in love with a younger British woman in her late 40s. She is age-appropriate for Steve, at least. Not exactly jailbait, but still younger than Elaine, who is 66." Later, Page Six identified Steve Wynn's new girlfriend as Andrea Hissom.
Hollywoodcelebgossips.com further reported that Hissom, "a 40-something Anglican ... is a divorced mother of two teenaged sons." Her father was Victor Danenza who, according to the U.K.'s Daily Mail tabloid, "fled to France in 1976 from the U.S. after being investigated by the FBI for fraudulent stock market deals. He was reportedly investigated by British authorities in 1992 for other fraudulent stock deals."
Even so, by all accounts, the dissolution of the Wynn marriage is extremely amicable. You have to figure that these two have been through just about everything one twice-married couple can experience; they no doubt know all about, and are reconciled to, each other. Elaine threw Steve a little 67th birthday party at Encore for 400 of their closest friends and family in January after, apparently, they'd split up.
Elaine, an active member of the Wynn Resorts' board of directors, remains "in business" with her soon-to-be second ex. Elaine's nephew Andrew Pascal is president and chief operating officer of Wynn Las Vegas. According to data compiled from Securities and Exchange Commission documents by 10K-Wizard, the Wynns each own more than 20 million shares in Wynn Resorts.
Observers have commented that the Wynn divorce will be the most expensive in history, eclipsing the $168 million Michael Jordan paid his wife Juanita when they split up in 2007.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal's Norm Clark reported that Steve lives in a suite in the Wynn, while it's "expected that Elaine will move into their home at the Southern Highlands Golf Club when construction is finished."
