Question of the Day - 05 November 2009

Q:
My wife and I will be in Vegas 11/6 through 11/9 and we noticed that the WSOP final table starts on 11/7. How do we go about getting tickets to view one or more of the sessions while we are there?
A:

The final table of the 2009 World Series of Poker is taking place in the Penn & Teller Theater at the Rio and is open to the public. Since it's a live gambling event, it's against gaming regulations for tickets to be sold -- they're being distributed free of charge on a first come, first served basis. Play kicks off at noon on Saturday and you're advised to get there very early to avoid disappointment.

Although the theater seats 1,100, a good chunk of those are already spoken for. Each of the nine finalists was offered tickets for friends and family, and while one player asked for only four, another took 250. Others have been reserved for the media. However, the good news is that each time a player gets knocked out, their following will presumably vacate the theater, freeing up more seats for the general public. Play will take place over a three-day stretch, with the champion being determined on November 10.

If you're not in town or lucky enough to bag seats, the final table airs on ESPN at 9 p.m. EST on Tuesday, November 10th (it's not live, since they need time to edit the footage).
