Question of the Day - 24 January 2010

Q:
Curious on which states of USA have most members of LVA? Also how about other countries, and where they rank.
A:

To answer your question in reverse, 95 percent of our members are from the U.S., not surprisingly. With three percent, the country where the largest number of foreign members hail from is Canada. Next comes the U.K. (82 members), Germany (53), and Australia (10). We currently have a nominal number of members also in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Ireland, and France, plus one or two each in Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Finland, Mexico, New Zealand, Portugal, Russia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.

As far as the domestic breakdown is concerned, we have members in every state, with California occupying the #1 spot (almost 9%), followed by Nevada, Illinois, Ohio, and Texas.

This compares with the LVCVA's statistics, which for 2008 (the most up-to-date data currently available), list 85% of Las Vegas visitors as being domestic and 15% foreign, with California also the leading U.S. state (28 percent), with 13 percent coming from southern states (they don't provide a state-by-state breakdown), 12 percent from the midwest, and eight percent from eastern states.

Oh, and if you don't know about LVA membership, just click here for a breakdown of all the benefits it brings -- even if you're planning to visit Las Vegas only once this year, it could be the best $37/$50 you could spend!
