Question of the Day - 25 January 2010

Q:
Any new info on the new ACE route between the Strip and Downtown? When will it start because I realy miss the express bus route that had only a few stops from Downtown to the Strip.
A:

The ACE Gold Line is a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route that will provide limited stop frequent service 24/7 between the South Strip Transfer Terminal (SSTT), to the south of Town Square and -- via the Convention Center -- downtown Las Vegas. (Click here and scroll down for a route map. Plus, there's an animated video of how the ACE service will operate).

The bullet-shaped buses will operate in a dedicated lane and, as with the Deuce (with which it shares some stops), tickets must be purchased prior to boarding. Because the ACE will have less frequent stops than fixed-route buses, it will be able to react to traffic patterns and change its route, where possible, to avoid congestion. As a "premium" service, like the Deuce, the fare will be $3 for a one-way trip, $7 for a 24-hour all-access pass, or $15 for a 3-day all-access pass.

The ACE Gold Line is scheduled to begin operating at the end of March and will ultimately also be extended and integrated with Route 108 on Paradise Road, the ACE Green Line (under construction), the ACExpress C Line, and the Deuce to provide a rapid transit system all over the Vegas Valley, encompassing the airport, Henderson, Boulder Highway, and North Las Vegas.
