The last time we conducted a full survey of which casinos still had coin-in machines was for this column in April 2008, at which time there were a total of 17 casinos that still had at least some coin-in machines, although only two of them (Circus Circus/Slots A Fun) were on the Strip, and they don't really count as two separate properties, anyhow.
Fast forward two years and the bad news is that Binion's, Ellis Island, and Slots A Fun are now TITO joints, with no more coin-in machines. To make up for this, however, is the news that Eastside Cannery recently added a new "Classic Slot Room," featuring popular vintage coin-in slot and video poker machines (see "Today's News" archives March 29, 2010).
Anthony Curtis has not yet had a chance to go over and check it out, but expect an analysis in time for the May issue of the LVA newsletter. In the meantime, click here for our newly updated list of all the places to experience the nostalgia of those bygone days of coin buckets.
We also conducted a reader survey on the question of TITO vs. coin-in; you can find the results in the Poll Archives.
